Mrs. Karen Denise Crawford

CRAWFORD, Mrs. Karen - Age 56, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2nd Chance Church, 5306 North St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Derrick Aldridge Host Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Crawford will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1:00 Pm-8:00 PM Friday. Ms. Karen “Cricket” Crawford was born July 12, 1961 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Maudie Rogers and Halbert Kellum Sr. She was a resident of Flint her entire life. Karen was baptized at a young age at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. She graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1979.” Karen met her husband, Scott in 1978 and they were married 20 years later in 1998, until his passing in 2010. She retired from Assisted Living Services also in 2010 after 10 years due to her failing health. Karen loved spending time with her family and traveling. She will be sadly missed by everyone’s life she touched. Ms. Karen “Cricket” Crawford leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Temisha (Travelle) Haynes, Tekisha Kellum and Latesha Kellum; 3 sons, Scott (Shenika) Kellum, Kareem Kellum and Jamal (Delehia) Kellum; step-mother, Thelma Johnson-Kellum of Bloomington, IL; 2 sisters, Gwen Kellum of Flint and Bobbi Rogers Bradshaw of Fort Worth, TX; 2 brothers, Donald (Evalyn) Kellum and Kenneth of Kellum of Flint; 5 sisters-in-law, Barbara (Jimmy) Jones, Margaret Crawford, Linda (Henry) Hill, all of Grand Blanc, MI, Teresa Crawford of Arizona and Lillian Kellum of Flint; 3 brothers-in-law, Arthur (Barbara) Crawford, James (Sandra) Crawford and David Crawford; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Patricia Taylor and Colleen Liggins. Ms. Crawford was preceded in death by her husband, Scott J. Crawford Jr.; granddaughter, Tempest Gregg; parents, Maudie Rogers and Halbert Kellum Sr.; brothers, Halbert L. Kellum Jr. and Roger Kellum; 3 nephews, Byron Kellum, Lewis Kellum and Anthony Kellum; mother and father-in-law, Katherine and Scott J. Crawford Sr. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren-Flint nurses, Davita Dialyses, Dr. Owda, Visiting Physicians Association, Pastor Derrick Aldridge and the Second Chance Church family.
