Mr. K.C. McQueen

MCQUEEN, Mr. K.C. - Age 86, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Charles E. Roots, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Mr. McQueen will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM. Mr. K.C. “Red” McQueen was born March 27, 1931 in Cheraw, South Carolina, the son of Joe Henry and Queen Ester McQueen. At the age of 14 he moved to Charlotte, NC where he met his lovely wife, Mary Alice Dunlap and married her. K.C. worked two jobs to support his wife and two children. He moved his family to Flint, Michigan to work for General Motors as a Utility Man. K.C. worked 35 years before retiring from the UAW Local #659. He would attend church until he started to get sick. K.C. loved to fix everything and build stuff. There wasn't anything he couldn’t fix. Playing cards and telling stories were the things he loved to do with his family and friends. K.C. was good at cards because he didn’t like to lose. When it came to keeping his lawn up, he was second to none. He wanted to have the best lawn in the neighborhood. Those who knew him loved his company. K.C. had a heart of gold. He’s gone but not forgotten. K.C. “Red”. Mr. K.C. “Red” McQueen leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Eldora (Quentin) Day of Flint and Winifred McQueen of Ferndale, MI; 2 sons, Ronald (Shirlene) McQueen and Calvin McQueen, all of Flint; grandchildren, Sharnessa McQueen of California, Terrance McClain, Andre McQueen, Felicia McClain, Natisha McQueen, all of Flint to name a few 35 in total; a host of great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Luther Hill and Richard Dowe. Mr. McQueen was preceded in death by his 3 sons, Rickey McQueen, Darry J. McQueen, and Gary Dewayne McQueen; mother, Queen Ester McQueen; father, Joe Henry McQueen; and brother, Elmore McQueen. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. James Walter and staff, Dr. Brian Shapiro of General Surgeons of Flint P.C., Reverence Home Health & Hospice, Genesys Health Park of Grand Blanc and his Canaan Baptist Church family.
