HILL, Ms. Julia - Age 66, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at McLaren-Flint. A memorial service will be held 3:30 PM Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 1258 E. Humphrey Ave., Flint, MI. Obituary Ms. Julia Hill, affectionately known as “Judy” was born June 13, 1953 in Flint Michigan to Homer Hill and Exie (Winfrey) Alexander. Julia attended and graduated with honors from Beecher High School in 1971. She furthered her education at Mott Community College, earning a degree in Criminal Justice and later becoming a Flint Police Officer. Julia also worked as a Cruise Attendant on the Mississippi Queen Cruise Liner for 19 years, where she met many of her good friends. After retiring as a cruise attendant, Julia was actively employed at the Flint Institute of Arts as a Security Officer. Julia was a lifelong member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and had the distinct pleasure of being instrumental, in previously helping name the church. Julia had extensive knowledge in many subjects and was also an avid reader. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and listening to music. Julia’s all-time favorite singer was Motown artist “Smokey Robinson.” Ms. Julia Hill is survived by: loving mother, Exie Alexander; step-father, Joe Alexander; daughter, Ivina Hodo; son, Richard (Hahn) Goodrum Sr; grandchildren, Richard Goodrum Jr, Gavin Goodrum, Gerrick Goodrum and Jonathan Carter; sisters, Yvette Bennett, Chanel McGee, Aqua (Joshua) Jones, Trashonda Alexander, Chrystal Alexander, Annie Alexander, Cherry Alexander and Theresa (Michael) Clarke; brothers, Earl (Lisa) Lewis, Reggie Alexander and Joshua Alexander; aunts, Mary Burton and Sherry Allen; uncles, Charles (Shirley) Winfrey, Carl (Sandra) Winfrey, and Alby (Barbara) Winfrey; loving companion, Tommie Hamlett; special friends; Drew Ann Wells, Myra Banner, Ophelia Hamlett, Will Hamlett and Lindsay Simpson; a host of nieces, nephews and many family/friends. Julia was preceded in death by her Father Homer Hill; daughter, Tammie Goodrum; grandparents, Lizzie and John Winfrey; grandmother, Rose Hill; sister, Rose Crittendon; brother, Miguel Hill; aunts, Johnnie Mae Jiles and Lula Lewis; uncles, Frank Winfrey, Curtis Winfrey, Homer Winfrey and Charlie Hill; cousins, Michael Jiles, Darwin Jiles, and Twyla Winfrey.
