BUYCK, Mrs. Juanelle Neida Jean - Age 75, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, June 10, 2023, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home., 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Robert Blake, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Saturday. Mrs. Buyck will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday, June 9, 2023. Juanelle Neida-Jean Buyck was born the daughter of Luther Kelley and Velma (Green) Smith on December 22, 1947, in Conway, Arkansas. She was raised in Greenbrier, Arkansas with her family consisting of 10 othersiblings. Juanelle graduated from Pine Street High School in 1965. She completed one year at the University of Central Arkansas and later attended Job Corps in Clinton, Iowa studying nursing. Juanelle relocated to Freeport, Illinois where she married and bore four children: Patrick, Christi, Michael, and Tracy. Juanelle also became legal guardian of Leola Newton. During this time, Juanelle worked as a youth counselor and pre-school teacher. In 1983, Juanelle and her four children moved to Rockford, Illinois. In Rockford, Juanelle experienced spiritual growth through her service at Christian Union Missionary Baptist Church. She worked for Bergner’s Department, a local restaurant, and for Social Services. In 1987, Juanelle and her three youngest children moved to and settled in Flint, Michigan. Given Juanelle’s many skills, she worked several different jobs to provide for her family. Some of those occupations included: Teaching, Sales (Crowley’s and Hudson’s departmentstores), Lottery Machine Installer / Technician (State of Michigan), and Office Manager (Podiatry Clinic - from which she retired). In 1993 Juanelle met Mr. Jeffrey Buyck. The two were joined together in matrimony in 1997. They remained lovingly devoted to each other for over 26 years until the time of her passing. Juanelle’s union with Jeff would increase her number of children from four to ten. Juanelle loved the Lord and served in ministry her entire life. Juanelle enjoyed sharing her love of Jesus with anyone she met. While in Flint, Juanelle was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she served in many different capacities including the Highlights Gospel Choir. After her marriage to Jeff, she joined Vernon Chapel AME where she served for over 25 years in different capacities such as Steward, Missionary Society, Sunday School teacher, choir, kitchen staff, and the "Sister-2-Sister" Bible ministry. Juanelle was ALWAYS dressed to impress. She loved spending time with family, cooking and eating good food. Any place she and her family resided or visited was marked with large gatherings of boisterouslaughter, genuine love, inclusivity, friendly sportsmanship (competition), and fun. Her loving motherly spirit was infectious, and everyone called her mom, granny, or auntie. This was especially evident while participating in community outreach with her daughter Tracy. Juanelle also enjoyed sewing, quilting,singing, dancing, and traveling. Juanelle did everything with style and grace, and no matter what, she always looked good doing it. She will be most remembered for her giving heart, open arms, a beautiful smile of all natural teeth, infectious laughter, and her beautiful silver hair. Juanelle was preceded in death by her parents Luther Kelley and Velma Smith, brothers: Vernon Smith, Kenneth Smith, and Leonard Kelley, Sister: Vivian Allison, and several special close friends: Al Horde, Lavette Jones, Hazel Crump, Francis Cross, and Eunice Franklin.Juanelle leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband Jeff Buyck, Children: Patrick Newton (Ruth), Christi Newton-Terry (Jerrod), Michael Newton, Tracy Newton-Palmer (Corey), Leola Newton, and goddaughter Kellie Duggans-Arrington (Jonathan). Stepchildren: Timika Evans, Kassandra Huerta (Patrick), Julisa Buyck, Eric Buyck, Demarcus Buyck, Demond Buyck (Tamara). Grandchildren: Michael Newton Jr., Cameron Jones, Corey Timmons (Dinah), Jasmine Iman, D’Morea Jones, Briana Jones, Zahria Palmer, Myracle Palmer, Logan Newton, Dravynn Terry, Tyler Beckett, Peyton Beckett, Micheala Beckett, Patrick Newton Jr., Anayah Newton, Keith Cummings, Masharie Wallace, Eugene Evans III, Amilia Huerta, Keyonna Snell, Amber Newbern, Raven Green, Christopher Green, Jacob Chapman, McKenzye Buyck, Kayden Buyck, Kaleb Buyck, Melani Buyck. Several Great Grandchildren, Sisters: Helen Kelley, Margaret Stuckey, Verla Smith, Hester Collins (Brian). Brothers: Albert Smith (Anna), Thomas Smith (Paula), Sister-in-law Elaine Dudley (Benny), Brother-inlaw Lawrence Buyck. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and extended family.
