ABRUQUAH, Mr. Juan M. - age 29, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Bishop M.C. Akins Eulogist, Pastor Delrico Loyd presiding. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Abruquah will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Juan M. Abruquah was born October 9, 1984 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Cora M. Abruquah and Maurice McGowan. Juan was educated in the Flint Public School System. He graduated from Southwestern High School, “Class of 2003.” He persevered through much illness and great adversity to achieve his high school graduation. He completed his studies at Mott Community College to receive an Associate’s Degree (AS) in Criminal Justice. Mr. Juan M. Abruquah is survived by: mother, Cora M. Abruquah; sisters, Araba L. and Christina O. Abruquah, Jasmine S. Hollman, Ciara Loyd and Porshe-Simone Loyd; brothers, Kai (Wakenia) Hollman; Pastor Delrico Loyd, Minister Deerico Loyd, Nathaniel Loyd and Johnathan Loyd; aunts, Cynthia (Levi) Pierce, Bertha Hollman, Scarlet Richardson and Lucille Martin; uncles, James Richardson, Peter Richardson, Donald Hollman and Jerry (Evelyn) Martin; special mother, Shirley Loyd; a host of cousins and friends including special friends; Keon Atkins, James Owensby, Brandon Dotson, Jaquinda Johnson, Christopher Oates, and Leon Hodge. Mr. Juan M. Abruquah was preceded in death by his father, Joseph E. Abruquah; grandmother, Cora L. Hollman; aunt, Katie Williams; uncle, John Hollman. The family would like to express special thanks to Southwestern High School “Class of 2003”, Keon Atkins, James Owensby, Brandon Dotson, Jaquinda Johnson, Christopher Oates, and Leon Hodge.
