YOUNG-LEAVELL, Mrs. Joyce - Age 73, passed away Friday December 24, 2010 at Henry Ford Hospitial in Detroit, Michigan. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Friday December 31, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Pastor Juanita Crump, Officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Young-Leavell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2 -8 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Joyce Young-Leavell was born June 30, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Jimmy Young and Mildred Falls. Having been a resident of Detroit, Michigan, she attended school in South Bend, IN. Joyce married George Lott and moved to Flint, MI at the age of 19. She worked for Studebakers at Bishop International Airport in Flint and Montgomery Ward’s Department Store. In addition she was a licensed Foster Care Worker for DHS in her later years. In 1967, she married Cordies Leavell. Mrs. Joyce Young-Leavell leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Cynthia Lott Patton of Detroit, MI; step son, Anthony Porte of Howell, MI; grandchildren, Venus Patton of Detroit, MI, Kevin Greene, Thomas Batson, Jr. and Marcus Batson of Flint, Richard Aubrey, Markisha, Marquan and Alysha Masters, all of Detroit, MI; great grandchildren, De’Quan Patton, Keon Brown (Hayden M. Tippett), Joshua Patton, Tamiyah Travis, Trinity Travis, Bryan Settles, Robert Settles, Brittany Greene, Ariel Greene and Kacie Greene; sister, Loretta Brown of Ohio; brother, Jimmy Young of Little Rock, AR; 2 aunts, Dorothy Brevard of Apple Valley, CA and Ila Parchman of Bellflower, CA; cousins, Bishop Donald Alford and Family of South Bend, IN, Dixie Johnson of Indianapolis, IN and Faye Turner of Toledo, OH; a host of other relatives and friends including Mittie Carter, Brenda and James Kendall of Houston, TX, James E. Lenoir and family, Melvin Gray, the Jamieson family, Anna Hughes and family. Mrs. Young-Leavell was preceded in death by her husbands, George Lotta and Cordies Leavell; daughter, Cheryl Lott Meppiel; granddaughter, Ceara J. Batson; dear friend, Robert Barker; niece, Tracie Greene; parents, Jimmy Young and Mildred Falls.
