THOMPSON, Mrs. Jovon Annette - Age 35, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Malik Shabazz officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Thompson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral home, and may be viewed from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday, with the family present from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM to receive friends. Mrs. Jovon A. Thompson was born January 3, 1981 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Joyce Ferguson-Morris and Donell Green. She graduated from Beecher High School, “Class of 1999.” Jovon went on to attend Eastern Michigan University where she studied Criminal Justice. In 2008, she wed her college sweetheart, Jermaine Thompson and settled in the Beecher Community to raise their young family. Jovon worked for many years in direct home care sharing her gift of laughter and joy to people who were in most need. Her greatest pride was caring for her two daughters and spending time amongst her family and friends. Jovon enjoyed reading, basketball and most of all making others laugh. She was fearless, brave, heroic and everyone’s best friend. Jovon’s sense of humor, sensitive soul and love of life was infectious; and though her life was shortened, we were blessed by God for that time to be in her presence. Jovon leaves to cherish her husband, Jermaine Thompson; two daughters, Jayla and Jordyn Thompson; mother, Joyce Ferguson-Morris; step-father, Eugene Morris; father, Donell Green; grandmother, Dorothy Green; sister, Kimberly Green (Angie Spence); step-sisters, Lorann Tucker, all of Flint, MI, Trina Morris of Burton, MI and Ella Tucker of Louisville, KY; brothers, Darren Jones (Crystal) and Brandon Green; four nieces, BreAshea Ferguson, Brymeasha Ferguson and Taylor Collier, all of Flint, Madison Hospin of Kentucky and Savannah and Lydia Todd of Westland, MI; nephews, Jaylen Towns and Tristen Patterson of Westland, MI; four aunts, Patricia Appling, Rita Dorsey and Carolyn Woods, all of Flint, Carolyn Green of Brunswick, GA; three uncles, Raymond Dorsey and Gregory Ferguson, both of Flint and James Ferguson of Memphis, TN; mother and father-in-law, Patricia and William Todd Sr. of Flint; sisters-in-law, Shantel (Larry) Patterson of Westland, MI and Brenniss Carnes-Ferguson; brother-in-law, William Todd Jr ( Brittany Arnold) of Westland, MI; a host of numerous cousins and friends including special friends, Tiauna Watson, Samantha Jiménez, Gabrielle Holmes-Scott, Kimberly Taylor, Eva Keels, Kendra King, Sophia Hunter, Patrice Williams, Brandi Kennedy, Vincent Waller and Micah Scott. Jovon is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Gertrude Dorsey; brother, Brian “KeKe” Ferguson; uncles David Ferguson, Richard Ferguson, Harold Dorsey and Ronald Dorsey.
