HORTON, Mr. Joseph Lavell - Age 42, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, October 21, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Rev. Charles Levy officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Saturday. Mr. Horton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. moon funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Joseph Lavell Horton “Lil Joe” was born January 8, 1975 in the Flint, Michigan, the son of Rilla Mae Horton and Joseph Thompson. He accepted Christ at an early age. Joseph was one of the most caring, kind men on earth. If you asked him for anything, if he had it, it was yours. When he didn’t have it, he would try his best to help you get it. Joseph loved cooking, dancing, spending time with family and most of all helping his old dude. His giving ways touched so many people. Joseph Lavell Horton “Lil Joe” leaves to cherish his memory: son, Joseph Roberson of Texas; mother, Rilla Mae Horton; father, Joseph (Bernice) Thompson; 4 sisters, Eustatia (Mike) Kelly, of Flint, Katrina (Brian) Reed of Allen Park, MI, Desiree (DreQuan) Barnett of Flint, Camille (Paul) Rousseau, of Decatur, GA,; brother, Travis Brown of Clinton, MS ; 2 step sisters, Rita (Herbert) Jackson and Clara Broom; step brother, Melvin Joyce, all of Flint; 8 nieces; 4 nephews; 7 aunts, Bobbie Kyles, Gloria, Patricia and Tracie Horton, all of Flint, Sheila (Bruce) Brown of Texas, Shirley Kyles and Tina (Melvin) Smith, all of Mississippi; 7 uncles, Anthony Ray Horton of Flint, Preston (Georgia) Frank of Kansas, Daniel Thompson, Willie Lee (Debra) Kyles, J.L. Kyles, all of Bolton, MS, Dennis Ray and Robert Earl Kyles of Jackson, MS; a host of cousins including special cousins, Kawana, Albert, Lashaunda, Calvin and Veronica; a host of other relatives and friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his grandparents, Burnice and Gathalee Kyles, Annie Mae and Alvin Horton Sr.; aunt, Annie Pearl Johnson; 4 uncles, Alvin Horton Jr., Thomas Matthew Horton, James and Harvy Horton.
