HENRY, Mr. Joseph Arthur - Age 52, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2007 in Rossville, GA. Family hour 10AM Saturday, May 26, 2007 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Dr. K.D. Yarber officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Saturday. Mr. Henry will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mr. Joseph "Joe" Arthur Henry was born September 9, 1954 at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. R.G. and Marscella Henry. Joseph accepted Jesus Christ for his Lord and Savior at an early age. He joined Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of his uncle the late Pastor A.V. Henry, where his membership remained under the leadership of Dr. K.D. Yarber. He sang in the Mass Choir and served on the Usher Board there. Joseph moved to Albion, MI where he joined the Leggett Chapel AME Zion Church under the leadership of the former Pastor Earnest Harris. He sang in the Male Chorus, assisted with landscaping, maintenance, and keeping the church grounds. His joy was his family, friends, watching sports, singing and his acclaimed family, especially Isaiah and Joliyah whom he loved dearly and called "my children". Joseph graduated from Flint Northwestern High School "Class of 1972" and shortly afterwards worked for General Motors on production until his illness. Joe was friendly, kindhearted, sharing, expressive, very sentimental. Mr. Joseph "Joe" Arthur Henry (baby of the family) leaves to cherish his precious memories: 2 sisters, Mrs. Floria B. (Hank) Ford-Crockett of Flint, and Evangelist Arlivia "Liah" Henry-White of Flint Twp; 3 brothers, Bobby (Bethany) Henry of MI, Louis (Beverly) Ford, and Robert G. (Gloria) Henry, both of Texas; faithful and loving fiancée, Judy Sims no natural children however, his acclaimed Sims children and family; 5 aunts; 1 uncle; numerous nieces and nephews including, Vonda K. Ford of Flint and David C. (Betty) Henry (who where raised as brothers) of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law, Royanne Henry; many cousins other relatives and friends including best friends in Albion, MI, prayer callers, Deacon Walter (Margie) Jones and cousins, Cliff Henry, HattieMae Buggs, Rosilyn, MaeDella. Mr. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Arthur (for whom he is a namesake) and Lona Henry, Ardella Hay and Sandford Hamilton; 4 brothers, Charlie, Milton, Roosevelt and W.L.; nephew, Stacy; sibling 2 grandchildren; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. K.D. Yarber and Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, Bishop Keith A. Buter, I and Word of Faith International Christian Center, Bishop Roger L. Jones and Greater Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C., Pastor Phyllis Hightower and Leggett Chapel AME Zion Church, and Dr. J.S. Hopkins and St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church families.
