DONALD, Mr. Jonathan - Age 53, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in Texas. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at The Church of God, 1513 Kent St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Lawrence Washington, Sr., officiating. There will be no public viewing. “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven:” Ecclesiastes 3:1 A Time to Gather Today we celebrate and reflect the life of our dad, granddad, brother, son, nephew and friend. A Time to be Born Jonathan was born on July 19, 1958 in Hollandale, Mississippi to the late Joseph “Daddy Joe” and Annie Laura Hill and Walter Brown, Sr. A Time to be Trained Jonathan completed his secondary education at Simmons High School and began higher education at Mississippi Valley State in Itta Bena, MS. A Time to Labor Jonathan was an entrepreneur, saleman, truck driver and chef extraordinaire. A Time to Plant Jonathan faithfully served in several capacities while he was a member at The Church of God-Kent Street. His life epitmized St. Luke 14:23, “ And the Lord said unto the servant, go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house maybe filled.” A Time to Laugh and Love Jonathan loved his family and friends. He spent countless hours in conversation sharing stories of old and reflecting on the‘good times’. Our dad was well known for his execptional skills on the BBQ grill. When daddy barbequed, he fed the entire neighborhood! He leaves to cherish 4 daughters: LaTonya, Jonique, Tasha and Tabitha Donald; son, Marcell Kelly; grandson, Daylen Williams; granddaughters, Jala and Jada Donald-Boose, Jordinn Donald and Journee Moore, all of Flint; stepmother, Mrs. Louise Brown; 10 sisters, Gloria Jackson of Greenville, MS, LeeDora (Willie) Holmes of Milwaukee, WI, Betty (Robert) Stewart of Petersburg, FL, Victoria (Elmore) Horton of Little Rock, AR, Mary (Sylvester) Fleming, China (B.T.) Erve, Sandra Brown, all of Vaiden, MS., Linda (Darris) Givens of Newport News, VA., Alice (Walter) Herron of Columbus, MS and Sheila (Robert) Hogan of Arlington, TX; 5 brothers, Gaden (Darlene) Donald, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA, Victor Hill of Sugarland, TX, Paul Hill of Little Rock, AR, Walter (Linda Ann) Brown, Jr. of Vaiden, MS and Erwin (Jeannie) Purnell of Indianapolis, IN; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends including special friend, Ms. Laur Reace Moore of Greenville, MS and longtime friends, Minister George O’Dell, Mr. John Phinisee, Jr., Lisa Langston, Mr. Robert Mosley, Mr. Larry “Clutch” Jones and Mr. Harvey Logan, all of Flint. Johnathan was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Earl Brown.
