WILLIS-BRANNON, Mrs. Johnnie Mae - Age 86, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican-Siena Campus in Henderson, Nevada. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 424 Kennelworth Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Major A. Stewart officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Mrs. Brannon will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Johnnie Mae Brannon was born April 25, 1930 in Barnesville, Georgia to John Otis and Elizabeth Willis. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School. After 25 years of dedicated service, Johnnie retired from General Motors. She was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and the Urban League Guild of Flint. Johnnie and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States and aboard. She loved to shop, which was evident by the store she had in her basement. Johnnie had racks and racks of clothes with wall to wall shoes and the purses to match. She had a plethora of jewelry in every size, style and color. Johnnie kept an immaculate appearance, she was always coordinated and there was never a hair out of place. She was a blessing to her husband, family and friends. She enriched all their lives, always making them smile and feel special. Mrs. Johnnie M. Brannon leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 59 years of marriage: Melvyn S. Brannon; daughter, Brenda J. Greene of Huntsville, AL; son, Melvyn Scoot Brannon of Henderson, NV; sister, Geraldine Turner of Flint, MI; 6 grandchildren, Erica Brannon, Ronnie L. Urquhart, Darius Brannon-Flagg, Nicholas Brannon, Jasmine Brannon and Justin Brannon; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 nieces, Marsha Perry, Bonnie (Armstrong) James, Tammye Lewis and Andrea Jones; 5 nephews, Darrel Jones, Michael (Pat) Turner, Ronald (Celestine) Turner, Jesse (Robin) Turner, Jr.; 2 sisters-in-law, Joan Bridges and Frances Jones, both of Memphis, TN; brother-in-law, Ernest Bingham of Fontana, CA; cousin, Nancy Jo Price of Indianapolis, IN; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends including special friends, James and Tessie Sharp, Jr., Inez Brown, Billye Bulluck, Joan Cooper, Ernelle Taylor and Janice Harden. Mrs. Brannon was preceded in death by her sons, Stephen E. and Bruce D. Brannon; sisters, Sarah Kendall and Lucille Terrell; brothers, Homer Willis and Wilbur Terrell; brothers-in-law, Jesse Turner and Lafayette Kendall.
