Mrs. Johnnie Urquhart

URQUHART, Mrs. Johnnie - Age 86, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013 Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, 2101 Lippincott Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Gerald Cardwell officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church10:30 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Urquhart will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Johnnie Mariah Urquhart was born in Artesia Mississippi, the daughter of Mariah Jefferson and John Henry Young. She was raised by her paternal grandmother, Angieline Mc Gee. Johnnie moved to Flint Michigan in 1946. She married Andrew Urquhart in 1947 and that reunion produced three children. Johnnie retired in 1977 from General Motors with 23 years of service. She was a member of Quinn Chapel A.M.E Church. Mrs. Urquhart served on the Turner Missionary Society. Johnnie was a loving, giving and private person. “Momz” loved cooking and spending time with her family. Johnnie also enjoyed creating hats, sewing, decorating, shopping, giving to a variety of charitable causes and collecting baseball cards. Mrs. Johnnie Mariah Urquhart leaves to cherish her memories: her three dedicated children, son, Duane Xavier (Australia) Urquhart of Fort Worth TX; daughters, Mona Lynn (Marion Leonard) James; Freida Urquhart all of Flint; 5 grandchildren, Aaron L. (Silvia) Jones; Daryl Urquhart, all of Flint , India Urquhart, Dujuan X. Urquhart, both of Fort Worth, TX; 7great-grandchildren, Pachense P. Jones of Flint, Jeffery D. January Jr., Auburney M. January both from Fort Worth TX, Aaron Jones II of Flint, Aliah M. Jones, Asija B. Jones both from Flint, Dujuan X. Urquhart Jr., Jamil J. Urquhart both of Pensacola Fl. sister, Willie Mae Page of Rock Island IL; cousin John Randle of Dayton, Ohio; brother-in-law Ronald (Vonetta) Urquhart of Flint; 2 nephews Glenn M. (June) Bivins, Arthur Bivins respectively from Lansing, MI and Flint; a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends. Mrs. Urquhart was preceded in death by the love of her life husband, Andrew Urquhart; grandson Andre’ L. Jones; mother, Mariah Jefferson; father, John Henry Young. The family would like to express a special thanks to the awesome people that assisted the family in caring for “Momz” the physicians, Dr. Kunadi Reddy, Dr. Arvind Kunadi, Dr. Jaime Yambao and Dr. Russell Di Ponio, the nurses Nancy Blackhurst, Elaine Green and Luzy Cunannan of Good Will Home Care of Madison Heights, the health care workers, Vickie Ovedragogonesto, Lu- Cretia Britt, Latasha Boone The staff of Genesys Hospital, Visiting Physicians Association, Absolute Home Health Care, Valley Area Agency on Aging and Mercy Plus Home Healthcare.
