CORDER, Mr. Johnnie Ivy - Age 76, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Corder will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Johnny Ivy Corder was born January 4, 1939 in Pickens County, Alabama, the son of Johnny Lee and Irajoe Corder. John was born in Ethelsville, Alabama, grew up in Columbus, Mississippi, and Moved to Chicago, Illinois with his first wife, Maudie, in his early adulthood. They have six children together: four daughters and two sons. Johnny and Maudie were restaurant owners in Chicago. Later he moved to Flint, Michigan in 1969 and worked for General Motors, met his second wife Charline, with whom he also had six children: five daughters and one son. In later years they adopt another son, James. John loved fishing, hunting and training dogs. There was not a time in his life that he did not own two or more dogs. John took great pride in his appearance, he always wanted to look his best. Mr. Johnny Ivy Corder leaves to cherish his memory: children: 9 daughters and 4 sons, Laurial, Cheryl, and Dwayne Corder, Inicca (Carlos) Williams, Jeremy, Marilyn, Joyce, Angel, and Mario (Angel Branch) Chatmon, James Davis, all of Flint, Lisa (Barton) Stinnet, Tammie (Phillip) Lloyd, and Edward C. (Therese) Corder, all of Atlanta, GA; 28 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Barbara Malone of Flint, Ruthie Armistad, Annette (Rosco) Bradley, Samella Degraffenread, and Minnie Petty of Columbus, MS; 2 brothers, Joel (Felise) Abron of Atlanta, GA, T. Luster Harris of Columbus, MS; 11 nieces; 16 nephews; 20 cousins; 4 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Corder was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Chatmon-Corder; parents, Johnny Lee and Irajoe Corder; 2 grandchildren; grandparents; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; 3 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; childhood friends, Jimmy Taylor, Charlie Chambry. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center and Heart To Heart Hospice staffs.
