CARTER, Mr. Johnnie, Sr. "June" - Age 79, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Saturday, September 22, 2007 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with Funeral Service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor Alfred L. Harris officiating. Interment CrestWood Memorial Cemetery, 2020 E. Hill Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Saturday. Mr. Carter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2PM-8PM Friday. Mr. Johnnie "June" Carter, Jr. was born November 14, 1927 in Muldrow, Oklahoma, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Johnnie and Leona Carter. Johnnie was called home on Saturday, September 15, 2007 to be with the Lord. Mr. Johnnie Carter moved to Flint, MI in 1952 after marrying his devoted wife on 53 years. He was a retiree of Chevrolet Manufacturing a division of General Motors and was a member of UAW Local 659. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Mr. Johnnie enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. His greatest passion was carpentry. Mr. Johnnie "June" Carter, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: 3 daughters and 5 sons, Mr. John W. (Annetta) Carter, Mr. Dennis Carter, Mr. Len Allen Carter, Mr. Marvin Carter all of Flint, MI and Mr. Michael Newhouse of OH, Ms. Carolyn D. Carter, Ms. Barbara K. Sanders both of Flint, MI and Ms. Elsa Mae (Jack) Mosley of Muldrow, OK; 21 grand children and 30 great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Lennie Straham of Flint; 2 brothers, Mr. Sam (Barbara) Carter of NV and Mr. Carl (Dorothy) Carter of CA; 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Cassine Carter of Flint, MI and Minnie Nance of Muldrow, OK; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Mr. Johnnie "June" Carter, Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae Carter; parents; 2 brothers; 3 sisters, 1 daughter and 1 grandson.
