Johnie Overstreet

OVERSTREET, Mr. Johnie - Age 65, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Brian's House. Family hour 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, 502 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Rev. Chester Payton officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Overstreet will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Johnie Overstreet was born January 25, 1945 in Dekalb, Mississippi (Kemper County), the son of Rev. Vilma and Juanita (Paige) Overstreet. Johnie first love was God. He was a faithful member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Chester Payton. Mr. Overstreet retired from the Salvation Army as a Truck Driver. Mr. Overstreet enjoyed fishing and playing cards (spades). He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mr. Johnie Overstreet leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Sequoia Overstreet (Curtis Jones) of Flint, Margie Donald of Dekalb, MS and Jennifer Odom of Memphis, TN; sons, Johnie Ray (LaShawn) Overstreet of San Antonio, TX, Sam Arthur Overstreet of Pensacola, FL, Timothy (Sandra) Overstreet of Knox bee, MS, Raymon, Robert and DeAndre Williams, all of Flint; 33 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; former wives and mothers of his children, Ella Mae Overstreet and Linda Overstreet- Williams; 4 sisters, Rosie Walters, Lucille Holton, Geraldine Wells and Casandra (DeEllis) McFadden; 2 brothers, Arthur (Anna) Paige and Willie Paige, Sr.; aunt, Lillie Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including special friends, Rose Robinson and god-sister, Secmarica Turner. Mr. Overstreet was preceded in death by his parents, Vilma and Juanita (Paige) Overstreet; granddaughter, Naquoia Overstreet; brother, Charlie Paige; grandmother, Endia Cole; nephew, Michael Paige; father-in-law, Arthur Williams; and brothers-in-law, Williams Wells, Ralph Walters and Ezell Holton. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Chester Payton and the Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church family, U of M Ann Arbor, MI, Brian’s House Hospice and all of you that have been praying for our family.
