WILLIAMSON, Mr. John Lewis "J.L." - Age 84, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024, at his residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, November 8, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Brother Anthony Bryant officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, Mi. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Friday. Mr. Williamson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Mr. John Lewis Williamson was born May 22, 1940 in Hope, Arkansas, the son of John A. Williamson and Sarah Jane Raglon. John was a resident of Mt. Morris, Michigan and graduated from Flint Central High School, “Class of 1959.” He served in the United States Air Force and was Honorably Discharged. John was the first black Truck Driver for Coca-Cola. He attended Mott College. John received Certification for Drafting and was a Skilled Trades Tool & diemaker for Chevrolet Plant 38, a division of General Motors Corporation, where he retired after 25 years of service. He loved to golf, watch sports, take pictures of nature and spend time with family and friends. Mr. John Lewis Williamson leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 63 years, Argie Mae Williamson of Mt. Morris, MI; 4 daughters, Aubray (Andre’) Mabry of Flint, Karen (Jeff) Harris, Lin Lewis, all of Flint and Donna Williamson (Antonio Lee) of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Nyiesha (Stephen) Fischer, Janee’ Williamson, Curt Stevenson, Miamor and Michael Harris, Keven Lewis, all of Flint, Randy Davis of Denver, CO, Warren Jones of Detroit, MI and Asiah Coley of Melissa, TX; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews, Omar Cortez (Monique) Williamson and Dominic (Lisa) Williamson, both of Saginaw, MI; a host of other relatives and friends, Denise Avery, Marvin Ragland, Joann and Martha Ann. Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his grandson, Steven L. Singleton II; parents, John A. and Sarah Jane Williamson; son-in-law, Keith Bernard Lewis; father & mother-in-law, Edward Balthrop and Lin Fitzgerald; brother, James Charles (Jesse) Williamson; 4 sisters-in-law; and 7 brothers-in-law. The family would like to express special thanks to Tonya Smith, Janneicka Hicks and First Hospice Care, Inc. Mr. Williamson was Honorably Discharged from the United States Airforce.
