SMITH,Mr. John Henry - Age 58, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at his residence. Family hour 10:00am Friday March 4, 2005 at the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, with funeral service commencing immediately at 11:00am. Pastor Louis H. Mays, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home at 10:00am Friday March 4, 2005. Mr. John Smith now lies in state in the chapel Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00noon-8:00pm today. Mr. John Henry Smith was born February 24, 1946 in Prattville, Alabama, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Sam and Carrie Mae Smith. Mr. Smith was a resident of Flint, MI. S., Inside Guard; Member, Detroit Consistory #1 A.A.S.R.M. 32 degree Mason, Knight Commander on the Court of Honor; Worthy Patron, Cape Jasmine #2 O.E.S., Rose Marie Chapter #33 O.E.S.; Worthy Joshua, Beauty Rose Court #5 Heroines of Jericho; Member, Willie Meeks, Amaranth Court #5, Mabel S. Powell, Matrons & Patrons Council. He was employed by Truck & Bus Plant, a division of General Motors Corporation, for 32 years and a member of UAW Local #598. Mr. Smith was also a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and going to the casino. Our father helped many people and touched the lives of many. He will be greatly missed by family and friends and his memories cherished by all who knew him. Mr. John Henry Smith leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mary Smith; 2 daughters, Lashawn Baker and Latoya Smith; son, John Mahan; all of Flint, MI; 4 stepchildren, Mary Johnson of Houston, TX, Rosie Baker, Lisa Johnson, Mary Ann Johnson, all of Flint, MI; 7 grandchildren, Nakisha Johnson, Tia McBride, Archie and Aubrey Walker, Jaylen Bransford, Ryan Farrar, Keira Van Sickle; 4 sisters, Shirley Knox, Linda Smith of Houston, TX, Shelley Smith of Grand Rapids, MI, Valerie Smith of Flint, MI; 2 brothers, Samuel (Lea) Smith of Atlanta, GA, Jerry (Debra) Smith of Las Vegas, NV; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. John Henry Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Sam and Carrie Smith; 2 brothers, Terry and Charles Smith.
