John Rubin

RUBIN, Mr. John - Age 77, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11:30AM Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, G-6415 N. Clio Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Pastor Wallace Hill III, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30AM Saturday. Mr. Rubin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Friday. Mr. John Rubin, Jr. was born March 25, 1931 in Flint, MI, the oldest son of John and Nellie Rubin. He graduated from Dunbar High School in Dayton, Ohio in 1948. He was a dedicated worker as a Tool Crib Attendant at Delphi for 50 years, retiring in February of 2006 and was a member of UAW Local #651. John was a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon and Trustee. He was a family man who loved spending time with his wife of 25 years, sons, daughter, grandchildren, brother Stanley, as well as the rest of the family. John was a lover and connoisseur of the finer things of life, namely gourmet foods, cheeses, and coffee. His other passions were collecting tools and antiques. Everyone who knew him knew that he expressed great style when he dressed, charm and intellect when he spoke. He was a great businessman who understood the art and skill of making money. Mr. John Rubin, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mary Rubin; 2 sons, Marko (Nina) Rubin of Detroit, MI and Kourtney Rubin; daughter, Kalita Miller; goddaughter, Chaika Stribling, all of Flint; 4 grandchildren, Marko, Jr., John, Katyra and Denaj’za; brother, Stanley Pringle of Flint; aunt, Mary Watts of Moreno Valley, CA; sisters-in-law, Sarah (Buster) Holland, Bonnie (Willie) Hudson of Flint, Diane (Willie) Grisson of Louisville, MS and Pearlie (Jerry) Johnson of Hattiesburg, MS; brothers-in-law, Charlie (Callie) Miller, Johnny (Cathy) Miller and Terry (Deborah) Miller, all of Flint; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews including special niece and nephew, Jorgina and Derek Rubin both of Flint. In addition to his family, John had a special relationship with his Pastor Wallace Hill, III. John cherished his extended family and special friends which includes, Alicia and DeAmanda Fleming, Yolanda Rubin, Maxine Rubin, Cyrnthia Miziak, Pastor Benny and Co-Pastor Lena’ Stribling, Judah Full Gospel Ministries, Jon Mackie, Doug Bacon and Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church family. Mr. Rubin was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Nellie; mother and father-in-law, O.D. and Mary Lou Miller; grandparents; brother, George Rubin; uncle, Howard Watts; and cousin, Kenny Watts.
