RAWLS, Mr. John Earl - Age 57, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 1:30PM Tuesday, December 2, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM, Pastor Morris Moos officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Tuesday. Mr. Rawls will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2PM-8PM Monday. Mr. John Earl Rawls was born March 29, 1951 in Brandon, Mississippi, the son of Willie Lee and Dorothy Rawls. He retired from GM Metal Fab in 2001, after 32 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #659. In his spare time, Mr. Rawls enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was known for his sense of humor and distinctive laugh. Mr. John E. Rawls leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 28 years, Lou “Jean"; 2 sons, Johnathan and Jared all of Davison, MI; mother, Dorothy Dell Rawls Hill of Flint; sister, Dorothy Murl Smith of Richland, MS; brothers, L.J. Mangum of Ocean Springs, MS, Wilson Mangum of Brandon, MS and Willie Lee, Jr. of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Ian D. Rawls of Genesee, MI and Katie Skaggs of Kansas; aunt, Wessie (Pete) Stapleton of Gulfport, MS; special cousins, AC Stubbs of Chicago, IL, Ardene-Fannie (Bennie) Redmond, Kay and Ashley Redmond and Frederick Stubbs all of Gulfport, MS, Charles Chaney of Brandon, MS and Ezell Ducksworth of Flint; nieces, Mautoyia (Sheldon) Cooper of Jackson, MS, Charlotte (Derrick) Allen of Covington, GA and Briana Hendrix of Grand Blanc, MI; nephew, Jerry Hendrix II of Grand Blanc, MI; mother and father-in-law, Charles and Mildred Cummings of Flint; sisters-in-law, Lolita (Lamar) Carson of Grand Blanc, MI and Lillian (Chris) Pulliams of Kentwood, MI; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends including, Johnie Hawthorne, Roy Key and Mike Molnar. Mr. Rawls was preceded in death by his great grandparents, John and Nora Stubbs; grandparents, Trella and Willie Rawls; father, Willie Lee and special cousin, Freddie Fletcher.
