Mr. John Ragland

RAGLAND, Mr. John - Age 60, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Cornerstone Freshwater Ministry, 3016 S. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor Donald Alston, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Ragland will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. John Lee Ragland was born February 10, 1955 in Oxford, Mississippi, the son of Julia Berry and Eugene Ragland. He was a resident of Flint, Michigan and a graduate of Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1974.” John was a Deacon at Cornerstone Freshwater Ministry. He served in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged. John retired from the City of Flint as a Heavy Equipment Operator after 26 years. He enjoyed fishing, going to the casino and weekend garage sales. John also enjoyed playing “Trouble” board game, horse shoes, as well as watching basketball and the news. He loved to cook on the grill and often times referred to himself as the “Grill Master.” John was a kind hearted man that loved to make people laugh and tell jokes. Mr. John Lee Ragland leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Sandra Ragland of Flint; 4 daughters, Ursala, Ginisha, Karima and Unique Ragland; 6 sons, Lucas (Tylene) Soper, John (Theresa) Ragland, Antione and Ammad Hall, Elijah and Logan Ragland; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; step-mother, Emma Jeanette Ragland; 5 sisters, Emma Smith, Susie Brown, Joyce Ann White, Sharon (Terry) Ragland-Keys and Barbara Gibson; 6 brothers, Willie (Robin) Ragland, Eugene (Connie) Ragland, Alfred (Stacy) Ragland, Lee Gibson, Dean (Nita) Gaines and Edward (Yolanda) Gaines; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; 4 aunts including special aunt, Caroline Harris; 1 uncle; mother-in-law, Lacy Harris; a host of sisters and brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends including special friends, Paul Whitmore and Charles Holiday. Mr. Ragland was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Berry; father, Eugene Ragland; brothers, Charles, Dwayne and Joel Ragland. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Sayeed and Dr. Ahmad.
