JACKSON, Mr. John Travis "Trap Dogg" - Age 57, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, November 18, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw Street. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Jackson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, with the family present from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. John Travis Jackson was born July 5, 1959 in Birmingham, AL, the only son to Jessie Mae Jackson and Sam Jackson. Travis, as he was called, graduated from Flint Northern High School and attended Jordan College for 2 years. He was a lover of God, family, good food and reading. He moved to Flint, MI in 1973 from New Orleans, LA with his mother, 4 sisters and nephew. Travis enjoyed watching football and playing basketball. Travis had a huge heart and would help you in any way he could. He was known to many as “Trap Dogg”. He had a very unique and hearty laugh that rang out wherever he was. Travis had a passion for reading one of his favorite writers was Donald Goines. Travis also enjoyed listening to old school R&B and country music. Mr. John Travis Jackson leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Carmilla (Monte) Jordan of Fresno, CA, Amanda Jackson of Nashville, TN; 7 grandchildren; mother, Jessie Mae Jackson; sisters, Beverly A. Diggs, Sandra Faye Diggs, Carolyn Jackson, all of Flint, MI, Michelle (Rodney) Gould of Hattiesburg, MS; aunt, Mildred Ewing of Minneapolis, MN; uncle Johnny (Hortense) Diggs of Titusville, FL; nieces, Michelle Y Jackson, Patricia Diggs, Micole Neal; nephews, Brent Sr. (Bernadette) Diggs, Duane (Tiffany) Diggs, Alfred Diggs, James Flowers, Deonte Jackson; special nephews, Billie Jackson, and Ronnail Jackson, all of Flint; 4 great nieces; 3 great nephews as well as other relatives and family. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his grandmother, Parilee Lee Diggs of New Orleans, LA; step-father, Hozy Lee Becton; uncle James Leroy “Sonny” Diggs, both of Flint, MI. The family would like to express special thanks to the 9th Floor nursing staff at Hurley Medical Center and the nurses at Hospice for the love and care provided.
