EPPS, Mr. John Mark, Jr. - Age 74, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at his residence.Family hour 11AM Monday, May 9, 2005 at Greater Holy Temple Church of God in Christ , 6702 Dort Hwy., with funeral service commencing immediately at 12Noon. Eld. Clarence Lewis officiating, Bishop Roger Jones, Sr. Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Monday. Mr. Epps will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Sunday. Mr. John Mark Epps, Jr. was born January 7, 1931 in Shreveport, Louisiana, the son of John Mark and Robbie (Preston) Epps, Sr. He married Sandra Battle, November 24, 1956. Mr. Epps was a resident of Flint. He attended Flint Community Schools, graduating from Flint Central High School in 1950. His hobbies included gardening and politics. Mr. Epps retired from General Motors-Chevrolet Manufacturing Division, July 1994. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and was a former Administrative Assistant to Congressman Dale Kildee. Mr. Epps was formerly a Genesee County Road Commissioner. He attended Mott Community College and was the first Black Journeyman Tinsmith, 1st Vice President of Chevrolet Local 659, member of the Democratic Black Caucus, and the NAACP. Mr. John Mark Epps, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Sandra L. Epps; children, Mark and Randall Epps of Flint, Dr. Trayce Epps of Southfield, MI; grandchildren, Adrian Epps of Norfolk, VA, Mark Epps II of Nashville, TN, Evan Epps of Twinsbury, OH, Danielle Epps of Flint, Nolan Epps of Southfield; mother, Robbie Epps; sisters, Bilye Jo Epps, Daisy (Jesse) Johnson, and Shirley Epps, all of Flint; brothers, William (Ivy) Epps of Star City, AR, Huey and Forest Epps of Flint; aunt, Mead Hawkins of Dallas, TX; sisters-in-law, Gladys Battle of Flint, Alma Epps of Capital Heights, MD; and brothers-in-law, Rudy Crank and Louis Dilworth, both of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends,Cloyce Dickerson, Leonard Herron, Billy Broadway, Otis and Carol Marshall, and Lenora Croudy. Mr. Epps was preceded in death by his father, John M. Epps, Sr.; father-in-law, W. Frank Battle; aunts; uncles; special cousin, Attorney A. Glen Epps; and sister-in-law, Jacqulyn Dilworth. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Ravikumar Peddireddy, Tracy Davis-McNeal, Sandra Wells (both of Hurley Medical Center), special neighbors including the Marshall, Crader and Garrison families, Bishop Roger L. Jones, Sr. and the Greater Holy Temple Ministries Church of God In Christ family.
