Mr. John Harvey Davis

DAVIS, Mr. John - Age 75, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at McLaren - Flint. Family hour 1:30 p.m.. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Pastor John Thornton, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Davis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m., with family present from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Monday. Mr. John Harvey Davis, a man of many chapters was born March 20, 1940 in Sturgis, MS, the son of Mr. John W. and Ozella (Sherman) Davis. He was a family man that made sure that all their needs were met. John was baptized at an early age at his family church, Mt. Zion in Sturgis, MS. He met the love of his life Shirley Jordan and to their union they had six children. They moved to Flint in 1965 where he became an employee of General Motors, retiring from Buick, Union 599 with 43 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed taking photos of his children, gardening, lavish electronics, and traveling. He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife, Shirley Davis of 53 years; children: Shelby "Marquitta" (Minister Perry ) Warrior Jr., Jacqueline Davis all of Flint, Kenneth (Glenda) Davis of Douglasville, GA, Lisa Davis of Toledo, OH, Michael (Heather) Davis of Clio, MI, Damon Davis of Clayton Twp.; 8 grandchildren, LaShawndra Davis of Atlanta, GA, DeMarko’ Davis, Deonte’ Washington-Davis, LaLania Davis, Makyce Davis, Kylan Davis all of Flint, Ceana Davis of Douglasville, GA,, and Mychael Davis of Clio, MI; 2 great-granddaughters, Madison Davis-Brewster of Flint and Kania Davis of Toledo, OH; sister, Ola Jean Nedson, of Flint; 4 brothers, Booker T. (Ida) of Sturgis, MS, Henry E. Davis, Sherman Davis of Flint and Franklin Davis of Tupelo, MS; mother-in-law, Annie Pearl Jordan of Sturgis, MS; 5 sisters-in-law; 4 brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Mr. John Davis was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, aunts, and uncles. The Family would like to thank the nurses on 10 South at McLaren Hospital, Rev. John Thornton, Elder Veotis Jones, and New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church family.
