MITCHELL, Mr. Joe - Age 48, passed away Friday, July 4, 2008 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Family hour 10AM Monday, July 14, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Eld. Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Monday. Mr. Mitchell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Sunday. Mr. Joe “Boss” Mitchell was born August 13, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Cora Mitchell and John Jamerson. He accepted Christ at an early age. Joe was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was employed at Walker Asphalt Company. Joe enjoyed fishing, cooking, working on cars and being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Antoinette Brown and Deirare Buggs of Flint; 3 sons, Joeron Brown of Flint Joseph Gray of Tennessee and “Sqirm” Smith of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, K’emeo, DeQarius, ShaQuaria, Damarius, Octavia and Zaria Brown, and Damarion Odom, all of Flint; mother, Cora Mitchell; sister, Patricia (Charles) Gray; 8 nieces, Laura, Ebony, Tanesha, Keosha, Sonata and Pachionia, all of Flint, Thubalina and Darlene Bank of Chicago, IL; 10 nephews, Larry, De’Andre, Derrick, John Quintris, Mitchell, Robert, and Tobias Mayer, Yil Henson, all of Flint, DeAngelo and Daniel Banks of Chicago, IL; 7 aunts, Ozella Walker of Detroit, MI, Annie Mae Thomas, Willie B., Dorothy, Annie Lee, May Dale Walker, all of Chicago, IL, Betty Joe Clay of Springfield, IL and Mary Jane of Evanston, IL; 3 uncles, Sam Walker of Detroit, MI, James Walker of Wisconsin, IL and Willie B. Walker of Chicago, IL; many cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends and family, Larry Dillard, Terry Dillard, Von Ivy, Darron Odom, Larry Mitchell, Jessie Fields, Greg Walker, Buddy Walker and very special friend, Diane Brown. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his son, Calvin Bronw; mother, Cora Mitchell; sister, Shirley Mitchell; brothers, Daniel and Robert Mitchell; grandson, Shavonte’ McAdory; grandparents, Fuzzel and Ethel Walker; great-nephew, Jacory Mitchell; and uncle, Roosevelt Walker.
