GAMMON, Mr. Jodie - Age 80, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, G-4142 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Gammon will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Jodie “Easy Money” Gammon was born January 15, 1931 in Brickey, Arkansas the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Dora Gammon. Jodie served our country with the Army Reserve from 1949 to 1953. He was united in marriage to Arthur Mae Winston who later went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 1992. They relocated from St. Louis, Missouri to Flint, Michigan, where Jodie was employed at General Motors Chevrolet Flint Engine Plant in 1955, later retiring in 1987. Jodie was a strong believer of God and a loving person to all his family and friends. He never complained and was truly a heart in human form. Jodie was a member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church, as well as a member of the North Bonbright-East Genesee Street Block Club. He was also a member of V-8 Retirees Club. Jodie loved to cook and was known for grilling the best ribs and cooking tasty gumbo. He leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Lawrence (Beverly) Gammon of Flint, Tyrone (Hyndria) Gammon of Little Rock, AR, Myrone (Crystal) Gammon of Appleton, WI; daughter, Charlene Woodward of Flint; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; niece, Willie Mae Wilson; great nephew, Tyrone Mansfield; god-daughter, Betty Johnson; special friends, Robert “Lil Man” Stephens and John L. “Turkey” Ingram; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Mr. Gammon was preceded in death by his loving wife, Arthur Mae Gammon; son, Jerome C. Gammon; parents, Robert and Dora Gammon; five brothers, Jaluther, Peter, Abraham, Eddie and Robert; two sisters, Theresa Gammon and Thelma Stamps.
