Mrs. Joanne Deloney

DELONEY, Mrs. Joanne - Age 79, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, May 24, 2025, at First Union Baptist Church, 7004 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Danny Greene, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Deloney will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Ms. Joanne (Thomasson) Deloney, born September 24, 1945, in Dewitt, Arkansas to Edna and Illard Thomasson, departed this life on May 19, 2025. She was a long-time resident of Mt. Morris Twp (Beecher) for over 45 years. Joanne relocated to Flint, MI in 1961, where she was a graduate of Flint Northern High School. In 1968, Joanne was hired at GM Metal Fabricating Division, to whom she dedicated over 30 years of service. She was also a faithful member of First Union Baptist Church for almost 50 years. Joanne enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cooking big dinners and baking pies for those she loved was a joy to her. And we can’t forget, Joanne enjoyed herself a good game of Bingo. Ms. Joanne (Thomasson) Deloney leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons, Jason (Nikki) Deloney of Atlanta, GA and Manus Palmer of Mt. Morris, MI; 14 grandchildren, Kariana, Shakiya, Kyle, Kesha, Kasey, Kierra, Lil’ Sean, Nyelle, Kameron, Nautica, Olivia, Kendra, Sydnee and Victor; 8 great grandchildren, 4 nieces; 3 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends including, favorite cousins, Charles London of Dewitt, AK and Tanya Shumpert of Conyers, GA; special friends, William “Blue” Thomas, Sayvil Crain, Judy Jackson and Vicky Ellison, all of Flint. Joanne was preceded in death by, her son, Sean Deloney; parents, Edna and Illard Thomasson; sisters, Marie Wallace, Maggie, Elizabeth Baylark, Lili Beatrice Barker, Cora Lee London and Thedoria Allen; brothers, Eugene, William, Moses Thomasson and Hank Thomasson. The family would like to express special thanks to: Jasmine and Luci from McLaren Hospital Davidson Division for the special care you provided for our mother throughout this time. And a special thank you to those who provided support and comfort during a difficult time, especially those who offered words of comfort, practical assistance, and emotional support, your kindness has not gone unnoticed. We also appreciate every act of kindness such as; providing meals, sending flowers or simply being present during a challenging period.
