JOHNSON, Mr. Jimmy - Age 59, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11AM Friday, June 19, 2009 at True Light Missionary Baptist Church, 6917 M.L. King Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Pastor Robert Rushin officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Friday. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 11AM-8PM Thursday. Mr. Jimmy “Cornbread” Johnson was born September 28, 1949 in Camden, Arkansas, the son of Cleo and Marie Johnson, Sr. Jimmy moved to Flint at a early age and attended Flint Public Schools, graduating from Flint Central High “Class of 1964”. He was employed at General Motors for 10 years, then Flint North and Heating and finally, The Flint Golf Club in Maintenance for 25 years. “Cornbread” enjoyed fishing and tried being a golfer, but he never got past the fifth hole. Some of his most enjoyable pastimes was being with his children, grandchildren, family, friends and making people laugh. He was truly the perfect example of what a good man is, loving, caring and helping others when needed. Mr. Jimmy “Cornbread” Johnson leaves to cherish his memories: companion, Mary Jones of Mt. Morris, MI; 2 daughters, Trolonda Smith of San Leandro, CA and Alvetta (Brock) Murphy of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 sons, Shelton (Catrina) Boyland of Flint, Jimmy (Quiana) Johnson and Kendrick (Shavina) Johnson, all of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 special sons, Phillip Adams of Flint, Steve Love and Christopher Jones, both of Mt. Morris, MI; grandchildren, Kenneth, Jr., Kentrell, both of San Leandro, CA, Shelton, Jr., Kearer, both of Flint, Shemia of Memphis, TN, Justin, Jimmy, Jr., Javion and Kenderick, Jr., all of Grand Blanc, MI; 2 brothers, Willie Ed Johnson of Mt. Morris, MI and Cleo (Nancy) Johnson, Jr.; 2 aunts, Anna Mae Johnson and Julia Johnson; uncle, Charles (Pat) Johnson, all of Flint; a host of nieces including, Janice and Latesha; nephews, and friends including special friends, Lonnie B., Cornell, Dale, Wallace, Carlotte, Catherine, Cindy and Pamela. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Marie Johnson, Sr.; sisters, Ellouise and Betty Johnson; grandparents; 5 aunts, Angie Mae, Georgia, Billie Rae, Ann and Maggie; and 3 uncles, Leroy, Adele and James.
