WALKER, Mr. Jimmie Lee - Age 78, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Daniel Bridges officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Mr. Walker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Jimmie Lee Walker was born May 14, 1938 in Vernon, Alabama, the son of Willard and Fannie Mae (Bartee) Walker. He grew up in Muskegon, MI attending Muskegon Public Schools. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving in the Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged. Jimmie moved to Flint, MI. He was employed as a Construction Worker until he became legally blind and unable to work. Mr. Jimmie Lee Walker leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Selina (Donald Scott-Fin) Walker and Deborah Smith, both of Flint; 2 sons, Jimmie D. (Cheryl) Walker of Boston, MA and Gary L. Walker of Memphis, TN; 9 grandchildren, Darwin, Satavius, Deondric, AnQuan, Tion, Chinanna, Ghayda, Jacob and Merideth; 3 great-grandchildren, Satavius Jr., Ciera Skylar and DeAria; 4 nieces, Tae Vance of White Hall, MI, Latricia of Phoenix, AZ, Blake of Lansing, MI and Terri Vance of Minnesota; 5 nephews, Lance Walker of Muskegon, MI, Jimmie Ervin Vance of White Hall, MI, Andy Brown of Chicago, IL, Paul of Virginia and Floyd Vance of Baldwin, MI; special cousins, John (Leathia) Collins of Grand Rapids, MI and Lettia Fountain of White Hall, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend and caregiver, Tyrone Webb and mother of his children Vera Walker-Styles. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Fannie Mae Walker; 2 sisters, Joella Vance and Bessie Caviness; brother, Peter Walker.
