Mr. Jimmie D. Thomas

THOMAS, Mr. Jimmie D. Age 70, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Dozier Memorial C.M.E. Church, 3212 S. Saginaw Street, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Interment Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, 2020 Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble 10:00 a.m. at the church. Mr. Thomas will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, with the family present from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. to receive friends. Mr. Jimmie D. Thomas was born to the late Clifford and Leola Thomas on January 18, 1945 in Newton, Mississippi. The family moved to Flint where he attended the Flint Public School System, graduating from Flint Central High School, "Class of 1964", where he played baseball and football. Jimmie working at Truck and Bus, a division of General Motors, where he was a dedicated employee for 43 years and was a member of UAW Local #598 . Jimmie enjoyed bowling and he excelled at it, having many 300 games. He was a member of many different leagues over the 40 years that he bowled, winning many city and state tournaments. Jimmie was also a member of the Flint All-Star Team. He met the love of his life Edna Thomas, while at bowling. They were married on May 30, 1986 and spent the next 29 years together. He was a protective and loving husband who treated his wife with love and respect while being a dedicated caregiver. Jimmie enjoyed joking with family and friends, playing basketball, pool, and watching sports games with his friends and nephews. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing dominoes, coaching softball and playing cards with neighbors and friends. Jimmie also LOVED Kung Fu movies and inspired everyone to watch these movies with him. Jimmie will always be cherished by loving wife: Edna (Booth) Thomas; daughters, Nichelle Thomas of Clinton, MD and Sabrina (Herman) Bentley of Ann Arbor, MI; granddaughter, Gabrielle Thomas of Clinton, MD; 3 grandsons, Jimmie Thomas III of Flint, Marcellous Miles of Adrian, MI, Matheney Bentley of Ann Arbor, MI; 3 brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Thomas, Curtis (Dorothy) Thomas, Ted (Cathy) McIntosh, all of Gary, IN; 2 brothers-in-law, Sidney (Tesha) Booth of Flint and Miles H. Booth, Jr. of Saginaw, MI; special brother, Harold (Christine) Townsend of Clio, MI; a host of treasured nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends, he will also missed by his loving dog, Juicy. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents: Clifton and Leola Thomas; son, Jimmie D. Thomas II; sister, Annie Pearl Jacobs; father and mother-in-law, Miles and Irene Booth; brother-in-law, Chester Booth; loved and cherished dog, Shiloh and Messiah.
