Mr. Jimmie Leverette

LEVERETTE, Mr. Jimmie - Age 68, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, April 2, 2022, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Leverette will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mr. Jimmie Lee Leverette, affectionately known by many as “Bay”, was born on April 10, 1953, the son of Eugene and Roberta (Benson) Leverette. Bay was born in Bessemer, Alabama and raised in Flint, Michigan, where he resided for his entire life. Bay was a loving husband for 25 years and a devoted father to 3 children, Marc, Shirley and Trina. Bay was employed by General Motors UAW Local #599 for 27 years before he retired. He was known for being pleasant, hardworking, and exceptionally well-dressed. Bay loved soulful music and sang all of his life. He had the sweetest voice, one that easily belonged with the best of Motown’s lead singers. Bay loved his siblings dearly and took pride in his children and grandchildren. Mr. Jimmie “Bay” Leverette leaves to cherish his sweet memories: son, Marc (Nina) Leverette of Flint; daughter, Shirley Leverette of Fayetteville, NC; 6 grandchildren, Marc Leverette Jr., Martel Leverette, Marian Leverette, all of Flint, Janine Grayer, Devon and Malachi Travis, all of Fayetteville, NC; 4 great-grandchildren, Aniyah and Alicia Leverette, both of Flint, Victor Jr. and Ajayla Grayer all of Fayetteville, NC; 2 sisters, Debra (Andrew) Paul and Gail Leverette; 5 brothers, Gene (Freda), Tyrone, Tony and David Leverette, all of Flint; 8 nieces; 8 nephews; a host of cousins, other relatives including special nieces, Miki, Tiffany and Tiana; special nephews, Marvin “Bo”, Gene-Gene, Ramin, Roderick, Stephen and Alan; special cousins, Joey Leverette, Aldridge “Buster” Cureton, Anjaniece “AJ” Rauls and Bobby Brown, all of Flint; special friends, Earl and Diane James. Mr. Leverette was preceded in death by his daughter, Latrina Leverette Gilbert; mother, Roberta Leverette; father, Eugene Leverette; grandparents, Otha (Hannah) Leverette; brother, Danny Leverette Sr.; cousins, Joe, Brown, Dooney and Terry Leverette; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to the Hurley Medical Center staff, the care teams at PACE Michigan and Hyde Park Assisted Living.
