WHITE, Mrs. Jewel K. - Age 76, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S. Center Rd., Burton, MI, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Bishop Urundi Knox officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. White will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, and may be viewed from12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday, with family present from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM to receive friends. Mrs. Jewel K. White was born October 9, 1940 in Dermott, Arkansas, the daughter of the late George Smith and Myrtis Walker-Taylor. She was a devoted employee at General Motors Corporation and retired after 30 years of service. Jewel was a faithful member at Ebenezer Ministries. There, she was a former member of the Choir Ministry and the CK Travelers Ministry. Outside of church, Jewel enjoyed spending time with family, going out to eat, shopping, and weekend get-aways. She was a kind, considerate, and strong individual; always willing to help others. She will truly be missed. Mrs. Jewel K. White leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Cynthia L. Campbell; 2 sons, Michael L. White and Rickey R. White, all of Flint; 2 granddaughters Renika (MarQues) Ogden-Colston of Lansing, MI, and Sade White; 5 grandsons, CaRon Gibson III, Michael L. White, Jr., Rolandes L. Campbell, T’Aris T. White, and Kamri L. White, all of Flint; a host of great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Faye (Ossie) Bolton and Joellen Upchurch; brother, Dennis Taylor of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, friends, associates and other relatives including special cousin, Dorothy Stocker of Flint; special sons-in-law, James Thomas of Flint Township, MI, and Luther Curry Jr. of Detroit, MI; significant other, Henry Lewis of Flushing, MI; a very special friend of 47 years, Evelyn Thomas; close associates, Gwendolyn Watkins, Mary Lee, all of Flint and Madeline Brown, of Mt Morris, MI. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Gentle White Sr; daughters, Katherine L. White and Burnestine White-Thomas; step-son, Gentle White Jr.; grandson, Rickey R. White Jr.; father, George Smith; mother, Myrtis (Walker) Taylor; step-father, Samuel Taylor; sister, Sammie Lee Johnson; brother, Willie Carl Taylor. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the many acts of kindness shown during their hours of bereavement.
