Jewel Hardy

HARDY, Mrs. Jewel Lean - Age 59, passed away Monday, December 14, 2009 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, December 21, 2009 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1610 W. Pierson Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor James Kennedy, Sr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assmble at the church 10:30AM Monday. Mrs. Hardy will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-6PM Sunday. Mrs. Jewel Lean Hardy was born January 3, 1950 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Maggie and John Hardy, Sr. Jewel was a resident of Flint and an outstanding member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Nurse’s Board. Her education was very important to her early in life, she acquired her high school diploma through Flint Central High School. Thereafter moving on to the next level of education, where she received several certificates and degrees, including Associates in Accounting and Bachelors in Business. Jewel was a loyal employee of McLaren Regional Medical Center for several years; she then was employed at Loving Hands, Inc., where she specialized in direct care. Jewel hobbies included playing bingo and electronic games, making crafts and fishing. Her greatest interest was traveling to see as much of the world as she could. To characterize Jewel Hardy would take all day, but most of all she was a loving person and loved by many! Mrs. Jewel L. Hardy leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Lattice Jones of Flint; son, Willie (Nicole) Jones of Bowling Green, KY; 9 grandchildren, Arnica, Danish, Katarina, Willie Darnell, Jr., “the special one” Shrike, Detonate, Marquand, Rebecca Jones of Bowling Green, KY, known to granny as “Wesley” and Deion also known as “D”; 2 sisters, Constance Burton of Flint and Holly (Warren) Pedersen of Georgia; 2 brothers, John, Jr. (Antoinette) and James (Katherine) Hardy, all of Flint; a host of nieces and nephews; aunt, Aunt Lee; sister-in-law, Catherine Hardy of Flint; a host of cousins other relatives and friends including special friends, Undine Richardson, Janice Kroger, Antoinette Hardy, Lattice Jones, Nicole Jones, Melanie Dubai and Natasha Simpson. Mrs. Hardy was preceded in death by parents, John, Sr. and Maggie Hardy; brother, Clarence Hardy, Sr. and sister, Jackie Anderson. The family would like to express special thanks to Diane Welker and the Hurley Medical Center 90’s staff and the staff of Avalon Hospice.
