Mrs. Jessie Mae Wade-Clarke

WADE-CLARKE, Mrs. Jessie Mae - Age 74, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, November 7, 2020 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Patrick Sanders Sr., officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 10:30 AM Saturday. Mrs. Wade-Clarke will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Jessie Mae Wade-Clarke was born March 30, 1946 in Tchula, Mississippi, the daughter of Velma Tolbert. Jessie was raised by her grandparents, Willie and Evelene Brown. She accepted Christ at an early age at Rosebank Church in Lexington, MS. Jessie attended Lexington Community Schools in Mississippi until she moved to Chicago, IL. There she joined her mother and sister working various jobs. Her uncle, Johnny convinced her to move to Michigan. After making her moved she met her husband of 25 years, Henry Clarke. Jessie joined New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Odis Floyd. In 1991, she received her high school diploma from Beecher High School. She always stressed “get your education.” Jessie loved the Lord and attended church every Sunday. She served on the Hospitality Ministry and sang in the Women’s Day Choir. Jessie enjoyed fishing, but she loved family gatherings. She would plan, organize and cook for the “Yearly Second Saturday in August Cook Out.” She always told everyone just show up everything is done. She did this every year until she had to take care of her mother full time. Jessie developed a passion and skill for home improvement. She was the “Bob Vila”, she painted, did flooring and gardening. Mrs. Jessie Mae Wade-Clarke leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Shirie and Cabrina; 3 sons, Eugene (Lee), Darnell, all of Flint and Reginald of Scottsdale, AZ; 10 grandchildren, Antoinette, Eugene Jr., Antasia, Iiesha, Robert, Jazmine, Mikia, Mikal, Mikyla and Justine; great-granddaughter, Kennedy; 2 surrogate great-grandsons, DeAndre and Dominic; 2 sisters-in-law, Doris Fisher and Lillie Jones; brother-in-law, Louis (Emma) Clarke; special niece, Denise; 2 special nephews, Anthony and Marquese; a host of other great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends including special friends, Gloria Smith and Peggy Anderson. Mrs. Wade-Clarke was preceded in death by: her husband, Henry Clarke; mother, Velma Tolbert; grandparents, Willie and Evelene Brown; sister, Minnie; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Doris Clarke; 2 aunts; 3 uncles; and god-son, Virgil Blanton. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Patrick Sanders Sr. and 1st Lady Ann Sanders, and the entire New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church family, the United Women of New Jerusalem, the Mayo and Legrone families, and Detroit St. and Flamingo Dr. families and Fabian “Cool Dude” Berry.
