CUMMINGS, Mother Jessie Mae - Age 77, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Willowbrook Manor. Family hour 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 22, 2025, at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 W. Carpenter Rd., with Funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Alfred J. Harris Jr., Host Pastor, Elder Veotis Jones, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mother Cummings will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Public Viewing will be held only during the family hour. Mother Jessie Mae Cummings was born March 3, 1947, in Jonesville, Louisiana, the daughter of Teddy Roosevelt and Hattie Lee Davis. Jessie moved from Louisiana to Flint, Michigan. She attended New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, where she became a Mother of the church and was a faithful member. Mother Cummings began working at General Motors Corporation (GM) as a Machine Operator. She retired from GM and then attended school to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). After being in the nursing field, she took in 6 of her grandchildren and decided to become a foster parent. Mother Cummings took care of a number of foster children for 5 to 6 years, then began working at St. Luke as a Industrial Seamstress, she worked there for over 20 years until her illness took over. She enjoyed working there, it gave her a purpose to get up every day while she was battling her illness. Mother Cummings always showed great dedication in everything she did, she was a hard worker which showed a strong commitment and loyalty in whatever she did in life. She also had a deeply devoted love for God through prayer, worship and scripture. Her faith in God was strong and unbreakable. Mother Cummings was an phenomenal woman indeed. Mother Jessie Mae Cummings leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Renee Terry and Barbara West; 3 sons, Jerry Cummings, Percy Cummings and Terry Richardson; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mother Cummings was preceded in death by her parents, Teddy Roosevelt and Hattie Lee Davis; and a host of other relatives.
