CLOMAN, Dea. Jessie Sr. - Age 72, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at McLaren-Flint, Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, July 11, 2025, at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Dequan Ford, officiating. The Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. service will be held at 10:45 AM, Friday, July 11, 2025. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday, July 11, 2025. Deacon Cloman will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Deacon Jessie B. Cloman Sr. was born on June 12, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Johnnie Cloman and Ruthie Lee Arther. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School, “Class of 1971.” On December 25, 1988, Jessie married Earia Hamilton, and they shared 36 wonderful years together. Jessie began his career at Delphi, a division of General Motors Corporation before moving on to work for McDonalds as a Manager. Later he served as a Building Inspector for the City of Flint, Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, Westwood Heights Board of Education and his final career was an AFL-CIO Labor Liaison with the United Way of Genesee County. In addition to his professional and personal passions, Jessie was a dedicated member of the AFSCME Union. He was actively involved in political campaigns, always striving to make a positive impact. Jessie also took pride in building community engagement and connecting with fellow members, reflecting his commitment to service and solidarity. Jessie was also a dedicated member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, serving as both a Deacon and a Trustee. He was also a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated. In his personal life, Jessie was an avid golfer, bowler and loved to travel. He found great joy in spending time with his family and friends. One of his proudest moments was the birth of his children and grandchildren. He was also incredibly proud to present his granddaughter Tanisha with her high school diploma. Jessie had a special talent for cooking and baking his famous pound cake and peach cobbler. Deacon Jessie B. Cloman Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Earia Cloman; 2 daughters and 2 sons, Jessie B. Cloman II and wife, Danielle, both of Grand Blanc, MI, Lalanda Thompson of Henderson, NV, Tanisha Thompson-Cloman of Fint and Aaron Thompson of Denver, CO; 4 grandchildren, Aaron Thompson of Salt Lake City, UT, Dion Thompson of Henderson, NV, Jessie B. Cloman III (Trey) and Demi Marie Cloman of Grand Blanc, MI; 4 sisters, Ruby Bownes of Batesville, MS, Belinda Hampton of Marietta, GA, Callie Burnett and Betty Wilson-Johnson of Chicago, IL; a host of other relatives and friends. Deacon Cloman was preceded in death by his mother, Ruthie Lee Arther; father, Johnnie Cloman; grandmother, Big Mama; brother, Johnnie Cloman Jr.; and his great-aunt. The family would like to express special thanks to the Hamilton family, Nicole Wesley and family, Kelly Indish of the United Way, McLaren-Flint ICU, Lawrence E.
