CALHOUN, Mr. Jessie T. - Age 73, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30PM Friday, September 9, 2005 at Family Missionary Baptist Church, 2518 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 2PM. Rev. Tellie Simon officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 1:30PM Friday. Mr. Jessie T. Calhoun will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Thursday. Mr. Jessie T. Calhoun was born May 24, 1932 in Ludlow, Mississippi, the son of Rev. Meshack and Josephine Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun was a resident of Flint. He attended the public schools of Ludlow, Mississippi prior to moving to Flint in 1955, where he then fathered 6 children, and was a loving and caring father and grandfather. Jessie was a faithful member of Family Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Calhoun retired from Buick in 1966. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Mr. Jessie T. Calhoun leaves to cherish his sweet memory: 3 daughters, Helen Delores Flowers, Linda Jean Calhoun, Charlene Collins, all of Flint; son, Frederick T. Calhoun of Flint; 3 stepchildren, Bessie (Robert) Hawkins of Flint, Eula Gills, and S.L. Lee of Ludlow, MS; 4 sisters, Lula and Mamie Calhoun of Flint, Mary Sims of Ludlow, MS, Kattie (Al) Thrasher of Seattle, WA; 5 brothers, Clyde and Abraham Calhoun of Flint, Meshack (Josephine) Calhoun of Seattle, WA, James (Willie Bell) Calhoun of Ludlow, MS, Otis (Shirley) Calhoun of Fannin, MS; 12 grandchildren, including special granddaughters, Tera Ladd and Erika Furlow; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Jessie T. Calhoun was preceded in death by his first wife, mother of his children, Emma Lee Calhoun; daughters, Marie and Jessie Lene Calhoun; 2 sons, Kenneth Calhoun, Percy James Calhoun; grandson, DeAundric Calhoun; great-granddaughter, Emily Calhoun; parents, Rev. Meshack and Mrs. Josephine Calhoun; sister, Ella Pearl Denson. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, Michael Cager, David Calhoun, Hattie B., Georgia Overstreet, Jett Carter, and all who supported us in our time of need.
