Mr. Jesse Lee "Bubba Lee" Richardson Sr.

RICHARDSON, Mr. Jesse Lee "Bubba Lee", Sr. - Age 77, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Full Gospel Christian Church, 5901 M.L. King Ave. with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. James L. Wheeler Sr., Host Pastor. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Richardson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd and may be viewed 12:00 PM-8:00 PM on Friday. Mr. Jesse Lee Richardson, Sr. was born August 9, 1939 in Skene, Mississippi, to the Late Nathan Richardson and Bettie (Thompson) Richardson. Known affectionately by his family as “Bubba Lee”, Jesse joined the United States Army, and in 1957 received an Honorable Discharge from Active Service. He then began employment as a Cook for Delta State University, until he migrated to Chicago, IL then to Flint, Michigan. In 1968, Jesse began work at Chevrolet Metal Fabricating, a division of General Motors, retiring in 1998 after 30 years of service. In 1972, he was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Dorothy (Walker) Richardson. Jesse accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and became a member of Blackwell AME Zion Church in Flint, MI and was most currently a member of Due Season Family Life Center. He enjoyed a variety of activities, especially spending time with his family on road trips, visiting his siblings, listening to his music, and attending entertaining events with his wife. He enjoyed “Sunday Dinners” with his family and friends, as well as grilling on the barbecue grill – he was quite the cook! He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His silent strength commanded a presence when he entered a room, and his wisdom was freely shared with his family. His big heart and generosity made him an example for the men of the family to follow. Jesse leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Dorothy Richardson, 3 sons, Jesse Jr. (Cori) Richardson of Meridian, MS, Nathan (Kemeya) Richardson of Boyle, MS, and Jarvis (LaSonya) Richardson of Grand Forks, ND; 3 daughters, Jacqueline Jackson and Brenda (Melvin) Trotter, all of Cleveland, MS, and Katherine Rose of Tallahassee, FL; 1 son-in-law, Hollie King; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Ann Davis and Jeanette Richardson, both of Chicago, IL and Bettie J. King of Cleveland, MS; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including special friends, John Jefferson and Willie Turner, special nephews, Tony King and Mose Thompson and special granddaughter, Jerika Fulton. Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his daughters, Debra Ann Roriex and Sophia King; grandchildren, Nicole Rose and Joshua Richardson; his parents; sisters, Doll Tate, Ruby Thompson and Elsie Thompson.
