McGHEE, Mr. Jesse "Sir Jess" - Age 77, died peacefully, Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Christ Deliverance Center, 2070 W. Coldwater Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor James Fields, Jr., officiating. Interment Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, G-2020 E. Hill Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. McGhee will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Jesse “Sir Jess” Haywood McGhee was born May 21, 1934 in Marion, Alabama, the son of Robert and Inez McGhee. Jesse was a resident of Flint and a member of Christ the Deliverance Center, where he served as a loyal Trustee for over 17 years. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Marion, AL. Jesse also served in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1958. He worked for AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors with over 30 years of service. Jesse was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing horse shoe, if you name it, he played it. He was a Genesee County Reserved Deputy Sheriff. Jesse also was a Mason of Eureka Lodge No. 16 F&A.M. P.H.A. of Michigan. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Mrs. Theresa Bard; 2 sons, Larry (Linda) Wills of Westland, MI and Mr. Darryl McGhee; grandchildren, Darrell McGhee, Dareliasha, Tinaya McGhee, Shonteeya McGhee, Laveetra (Terry) Ferguson, Kejuan Gray, Mario Wills, Kaneeyah Jackson, Larry (Raina) Wills, Jr. and Noami Wills; great-grandchildren, Darius, Simone Ferguson, Matrell Jackson, Martel Jackson, King Osborne, Darrell McGhee II, Mario Wills, Jr. and Jayla Gibson; sisters, Pauline Parker of Marion, AL, Gertrude Edwards of Toledo, OH, Jeanette Hamp of Birmingham, AL; a host of nieces and nephews; a host of cousins including, Thomasene Mabry, Doris Dill, Arthur (Shirley) Dickerson, Willie (Lillian) Dickerson, Ray Lawson, David Porter and Ellen Clementine Porter; sisters-in-law, Ossie Fields of Flint, Pastor Verda Nichols of Bridgeport, MI, Barbara Wills of Flint, Verlean Barker of Westland, MI; brother-in-law, Joe (Betty) Wills of Romulus, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Gladys Gains, Nola Bell, Minnie Keys, Charles “Chuck” Balya and Pastor James Fields. Mr. McGhee was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine McGhee; parents; 2 brothers, Richard and Ralph McGhee. The family would like to express special thanks to grandson, Robbie, Angel Brown and attending nurse, Roberta Boyles.
