Mr. Jesse Lee Mayberry

MAYBERRY, Mr. Jesse Lee - Age 74, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, July 8, 2024, at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Reverend AJ Harris Jr., officiating. Internment, Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Family and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Monday. Mr. Mayberry will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM Sunday. July 7, 2024. Mr. Jesse L. Mayberry was born November 24, 1949, in Memphis Tennessee, the son of Willie D. and Mary L. Mayberry. He moved to Flint, Michigan in the 1950’s and attended Flint public schools. A graduate of Flint Northern High School “Class of 1967’. He received his journeyman certificate from Mott Community College in the apprenticeship program. Jesse was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church and dedicated Usher. He attended Bible Class and Prayer regularly. Jesse retired in 2006 from General Motors Corporation, Buick Division Plant 36, where he was a Certified Pipefitter. When Jesse put up a basketball hoop in his yard for his children it became the Beecher neighborhood spot for the kids which kept a lot of them out of trouble. Jesse loved bowling, fishing, playing pool, playing cards, listening to music, baking cakes and most of all spending time with his family and friends. Jesse L. Mayberry leaves to cherish his memories: 2 daughters, Yolanda Gadson of South Bend, IN and Colette (Juan) Goosby of Flint, MI; son, Terrence Mayberry (Debra Stewart) of Mt. Morris, MI; 7 grandchildren, Kenneth Dewayne (Keshia) Echols, Jr., of Indianapolis, IN, LaKendra Mayberry of South Bend, IN, Kionte Mayberry of Davison, MI, Jaleal Mayberry of South Bend, IN, Asiajuana Goosby of Davison, MI, Shaitoia Gadson of Indianapolis, IN and Kiara Goosby of Flint, MI; 5 great-grandchildren, Da’Kari Mayberry, Nala Echols, Hasani Echols, Zuri Echols and Aaliyah Mayberry; 3 sisters, Estelle Lever of Flushing, MI, Janet Shaw of Flint, MI and Jeannie Mayberry of Flint, MI; ex-wife and dear friend, Gloria Mayberry of Flint Twp, MI; uncle, Henry (Stacy) Robinson; 6 nieces; 4 nephews; 26 great-nieces and nephews; 10 great-great-nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Sam Jenkins; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Mayberry was preceded in death by his parents, Willie D. and Mary L. Mayberry; sister, Annie Brewer; grandparents, Johnnie Mayberry, Hannah Robinson, Jessie Robinson and Louvinia Robinson; in-laws, Devon Earnest and Ora Bell Earnest; son-in-law, Floyd Gadson; sister-in-law, Joyce Smith, 2 brothers-in law, A B Smith and Jimmie Lever and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
