Mr. Jerome Stephen Turner Sr.

TURNER, Mr. Jerome Stephen Sr. - age 56, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at New Creation Church of God, 3472 Lennon Rd. with funeral service commencing at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Dr. Herbert L. Banks officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Turner will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Jerome Stephen Turner Sr. was born February 28, 1958 at Hurley Medical Center, the son of Jacob and Laura Turner. Jerome “Stevie” Turner attended Flint Public Schools graduating from Flint Northern High School in 1976. He was employed by General Motors retiring in 2008 after 30 years of service. He loved sports especially fishing and basketball and one of his favorite hobbies was frying turkeys. Jerome loved his beloved dogs (Patton, Star, and Jazzy) and was a diehard Spartan fan, but more than anything in this world Jerome’s heart belonged to his beautiful grandchildren. Mr. Jerome Stephen Turner Sr. leaves to cherish his memories his son, Jerome Stephen (Dawana) Turner Jr. of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Tnijah Turner, and Alarrio Ellies both of Flint, Brooklyn and Emorej Turner both of Lansing, Jadyn Turner of Detroit, MI, Jonah McDaniel, Jelani Sobomehin, and Joshua Daniel all of Houston, TX; step-mother, Betty Turner; 2 sisters, Deborah Turner of Flint, and Melodie Turner of Rochester Hills, MI; 2 brothers, Larry of Flint, and Gregory (Dale) Turner of Redford, MI; 2 nieces, Tamiko and Traci; 3 nephews, Gregory Turner Jr., of Mt. Morris, MI, Davante and Davon; 3 aunts, Bernese Graham of Atlanta, GA, Geraldine Turner of Flint, MI, Doris Turner of Wadley, GA; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends; Mrs. Hart and his “special girl Jazzy.” Mr. Jerome Stephen Turner Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Roman Washington and Inez Washington-Smith; Brothers, Danny and Sandy Turner. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Kiran, and the staff of the ICU team at McLaren Regional Medical Center.
