Mrs. Jelecia Jeceil Ford-Geraghty

FORD-GERAGHTY, Mrs. Jelecia Jeceil- Age 37, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025 at her residence. Family hour 12:00 PM Friday, August 22, 2025 at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 711 S. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM. Father Joseph Kennedy, officiating. Mrs. Ford-Gearghty will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday, with family present 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mrs.Jelecia Jeceil Ford-Geraghty was born on June 5, 1988 to J.P & Velecia Ford in Flint, Michigan. Jelecia attended Flushing Community Schools where she graduated in 2006. Jelecia was an active member of the Flushing Vocal Music program and also the Flushing Cheerleading Team. Jelecia’s life would forever be changed as she welcomed her pride and joy to this world, her daughter Erynn Anai Ford. This little angel was the complete apple of Jelecia’s eye, and those two were inseparable. Here after Mrs. Ford-Geraghty graduated from University of Michigan-Flint majoring in English education with a minor in speech in 2013. Jelecia pursued her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, earning over 30 credits from Grand Canyon University, but was unable to complete her course work due to her illness. Jelecia was an active member and steward in her Church. Jelecia loved St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and loved serving the entire state of Michigan. She played a vital role in the merging of the Eastern and Western Michigan Dioceses. Jelecia worked tirelessly to make sure this merge was flawless and took lofty pride in the Anglican Church's accomplishments. Jelecia, casually referred to as “Jai” is what we refer to as a cradle born Episcopalian being baptized at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church as baby and then being an active member of the Standing Committee; Diversity Committee; Diocesan Council; Racial Reconciliation Becoming Beloved Community; Liturgy and Worship Committee; Eucharistic Task Force during covid; Rector Search Committee; Co-Chair of the Convention Planning Committee; Youth Group Leader; Eucharistic Minister; Lector; Acolyte; Hospitality Ministry; Chancel, Youth and Gospel Choirs, and also set on Vestry at St. Paul’s Episocal Church…to name a few! On April 28, 2018 Jelecia Ford-Geraghty married the love of her life Mr. Shane Geraghty. The two of them loved to travel, go to the beach, the zoo, watch movies and spend time with their family and friends while raising their beloved daughter Erynn. Jelecia took pride in her family dynamic and was a warrior and protector of all who crossed her path. Jelecia was a seasoned teacher of over 10 years. She worked in Beecher, Flint, New Standard Academy, and Hamady School districts as an English, Speech, and Reading teacher. She took pride in her students and faculty and loved being in the classroom, enriching the minds of middle and High School students across the County. Jelelcia was the spirit of her department and always ready to lead. During her illness, Jelecia was a beacon of light and would often encourage those around her in spite of her challenges. Her smile lit up the room, and her gentle spirit provided unlimited fuel to her fiery passion for life. Jelecia leaves in God’s care her daughter, Erynn Ford; Husband, Shane Geraghty; Mother, Velecia Roberts-Ford; three sisters: Racquel (Eric) Britt (Dallas, TX); Stephanie (Timothy) Greene (Lathrup Village, MI); Quiara Dones (Flint, MI), and a brother, Joel (Maria) Ford (Lathrup Village, MI). Lifelong Friends Rafeal McDaniel- Walker, Ro Macri-Stade, Alix McGinn, Brittney Frasier, Becki Figgins, Jennifer Salem-Mohr; Heidi Rosenberger-Lewis, and Chantel DiDominicis; God Daughter Kirsten Dill. Godparents Vera (Julie) Perry, Terri Moon, and Jeanine Conner-Franklin; Honorary Grandparents Clay and Joyce Lerou; in-laws Timothy and Mary Geraghty; Sister in-laws Angela (Brian) Albert, and Sarah Tody, Brother-in-law, Matthew Geraghty. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Jelecia was preceded in death by her Father J.P Ford Jr., Grandparents John and Emma Roberts, J.P and Mary Ford Sr, best friend Erin Rogers, and bonus son Gage Spanke. The family extends considerable gratitude to the staff and doctors of McLaren-Flint, Karmonos, McLaren Therapy Services, Heart to Heart Hospice, Hamady Community Schools, and the St. Paul Epsicopal Church. The family of Mrs. Jelecia Jeceil Ford-Geraghty thanks everyone for their fervent prayers, heartfelt generosity and unwavering support.
