KENT, Mr. Jarrett Alexander - Age 26, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor R. Sherman McCathern officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Kent will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Jarrett Alexander Kent “Jay” was born January 31, 1989 in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Laquetta R. Gatson and Jerry Kent. He attended Flint Community Schools and received his GED from Carman-Ainsworth Adult High School. Jarrett loved to barbeque, read, play Dominoes and cook. He also loved to spend quality time with family and friends and his children and nephews. “Jay” was always full of life and was well known to family and friends as a great prankster and joker. He will be truly missed. Mr. Jarrett Alexander Kent “Jay” leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sons, Kaiden Kent and Khristian Kent; parents, Laquetta R. Gatson and Jerry Kent; step-father, Russell P. Davy; grandmother, Vera Johnson; 3 sisters, Shanta Kent, Gabrielle Kent, all of Flint and Lindsay (Alan) Briscoe of Ft. Sill, OK; brother, Keenan Gatson; 2 nieces, Desireé Griffin and Jordyn Pittman; 2 nephews, Gabriel Williams and Emmanuel Williams, all of Flint; 3 aunts, Shanta (Jerry) Smith of Balch Springs, TX, Tonnia (Otis) Rushing and Mary (Joe) Holloman, all of Hugh Springs, TX; 4 uncles, Clinton (Melzora) Lloyd of Desoto, TX, Keith Gatson of Flint, Perry Gatson of Lima, OH and Derek Gatson of Orlando, FL; a host of other relative and friends including special friends, his love and the mother of his children, Christmas Gibbs. Mr. Kent was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nettie Jewel Gatson; aunt, Kaye Landers; uncle, Cecial Gatson.
