CRAYTON, Ms. Janiece - Age 68, passed away Sunday November 21, 2010 at Heritage Manor. Family hour 10:30AM Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Avenue, with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Reginald Flynn officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Tuesday. Ms. Crayton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Ms. Janiece Crayton (Meals) was born July 7, 1942 in Ullin, IL, the daughter of James and Lucille Meals. Janiece relocated to Flint, Michigan in 1969, after living in St. Louis, MO for several years. She became a member of Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, where she actively worked with the youth department and served as a cook for Lazy Leopard Daycare. Janiece became a member of Highest Praise, under the leadership of Rev. Calvin Randolph and most recently attended Genesis Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Earl Willis. She attended Mott Community College majoring in Culinary Arts and went on to work for Michigan State University COOP extension as a Food and Nutrition Instructor until her retirement. Janiece was known as an enthusiastic Sunday School Teacher, praise leader and jail chaplain. She will always be remembered for her delicious meals, laughter and sense of humor. Janiece was a great motivator who loved to share Christ with others. She leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Tonya (Alex) LaGrone and Rhonda (Drake) Silk; grandchildren, Natasha Janiece LaGrone of East Lansing, MI, Tiana LaGrone of Ann Arbor, MI, Brandy LaGrone, Jasmine LaGrone, April LaGrone, Roniece Silk, Ron’dre and Tavoni Silk; 2 sisters, Dorothy Meals of Chicago, IL and James Etta LaGrone of Decatur, IL; 6 brothers, Elstanley “Stan” Willis of Flint, Earl (Jean) Willis of Starkville, MS, Cranston Willis of Flint, L.D. (Kim) Willis, Jr., of East Moline, IL, Verneil and Vincent Willis, all of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, Arlena Truss, A.C. Crayton, Gloria Woody, Sandra and Albert Robertson and Essie Lattimore. Ms. Crayton was preceded in death by her parents; step father, L.D. Willis, Sr.; brothers, Wilbert Meals and Gerald Willis; sisters, Rovena Riley and Arneta Ellis; and grandparents. The family would like to express special thanks to Heritage Manor, special cousins, Jerry and Toneida Threlkeld, special brother, Stan Willis and the God’s Disciples Breakfast Club, Pastor Reginald Flynn and the Foss Avenue Baptist Church family.
