HARDEN, Ms. Janice - Age 70, passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at Hurley. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1309 N. Ballenger Hwy., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM, Pastor Naylo Hopkins, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Saturday. Ms. Harden will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday. Ms. Janice T. Harden was born February 7, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Robbie Harden. Janice was a resident of Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1973”and Ferris State College with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. She was employed at General Motors Corporation where she retired after over 30 years of employment. Janice also worked for Hamilton Community Health Network and for G-Card. Janice was very dedicated to the Flint Community. Her community focus always highlighted Education, Family and Government Policy. Janice loved to read, roller skate, bowl, play golf and travel. She also had a love for all of the arts and was a firm believer in people having life. She was always the life of the party, Janice could work a room. She was involved in the following: Urban League, Flint Institute of Arts (FIA), and Communities First. She also very active in the community and had a show at the Greater Flint Arts Council (GFAC). Janice enjoyed for a long time supporting “The African American Film Series” and had artwork displayed at the Flint Institute of Arts. She also was a Political Activist. Ms. Janice T. Harden leaves to cherish her memory: sister, Mary (Tommy) Childres; 3 nieces, Dajuana (Trey) Harden Smith of Flint, Tiffany Harden and April DeLoney, both of Carmel, IN; 2 nephews, Thomas (Tamia) Childres and Robert Jermaine Harden, both of Flint; 3 great-nieces, Olivia DeLoney, Royalty Harden and Shonell Harden; 3 great-nephews, Mason Childres, Sean DeLoney Jr. and Victor Moorer Jr.; god-son, Marreon Givens; a host of cousins including special cousin, Sheena Manuel; sister-in-law, Lavonne Harden; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Desiree Johnson, Brenda Greene, Kat Etherly, Earnestine Lattimore and Lou Bruce. Ms. Harden was preceded in death by her son, DeSean Harden; mother, Robbie Harden; brothers, Robert Harden and Jerry Harden. The family would like to express special thanks to neighbors, Andrea Powell and Syveeta Powell. Special thanks also go to Desiree Johnson, Sheena Harden Manuel and the staff at Hurley Medical Center.
