Ms. Janice Ruth Bryson

BRYSON, Ms. Janice Ruth - age 60, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with memorial service commencing at 11 a.m. Eld. Jesse Darrough officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Thursday. Ms. Bryson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday. Ms. Janice Ruth Bryson was born August 29, 1953 in Flint, MI, daughter of the late Mr. John Willis Croffe, Sr. and Mrs. Maple Lee Croffe. Janice graduated from Flint Northern High School in June 1971, the last of the Old Flint Northern, and attended Ferris State University majoring in Social Work. She was employed at Kmart and Mr. B’s until she became unable to work. Janice loved spending time with her family and friends, especially arguing with her son Ishmael at the card table. Playing Monopoly, cards, and watching Smallville TV series were her favorite hobbies. She also loved cooking fried chicken, greens, and cornbread. Janice had an infectious smile and lit up the room when she walked in. Janice leaves to cherish her precious memories: her one and only son, Ishmael (LaTori) Bryson; six grandchildren, Shaquevia Bryson, India Bryson, both of Flint, MI, Octavia Bryson of Bryan, TX, Turri Cochran, LaDaisha Byrom, and Darryl Knapp, all of Flint, MI; one brother, John Croffe of Flint, MI; two sisters, Glenda Fay Lang of Flint, MI and Martha Saunders of Tampa, FL; three nieces, LaDonna Croffe of Grand Prairie, TX, Christine Furlough of Detroit, MI, and Tasha Saunders of Tampa, FL; four nephews, Johnathan (Crystal) Croffe and Clarence (LaKendra) Williams, Jr., both of Flint, MI, David Saunders and Aaron Saunders, both of Tampa, FL; five great-nephews, two great-nieces; five aunts, four uncles; a host of cousins and friends, including special cousin Gwendolyn “Coco” Steele, special friend Michelle Brown, dear friend Eric Furlow, and lifelong friend Ronnie Walker, whom she loved dearly. Ms. Janice Bryson was preceded in death by: her parents, John Willis Croffe, Sr. and Maple Lee Croffe; nephew, Mark Nathaniel Williams; uncles, Marshall Savage, Sammie Savage, Walker Savage, Heck Savage, and Clarence Smith. The family would like to express heartfelt and sincere thanks to her Hurley roommate Donna Banks and the staff of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home.
