DURRETT, Mrs. Jana - Age 55, passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, June 8, 2009 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S. Center Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Min. Jeanette Wilson officiating. Senior Pastor Urundi Knox, Host Pastor. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Monday. Mrs. Durrett will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-6PM Sunday. Mrs. Jana Yvette Durrett was born April 10, 1954 in Flint, MI, the daughter of Augustus and Georgia Cayton. She was a graduate of Flint Northern High School. Jana was employed by General Motors AC, retiring in 1989 and was a member of Local #651. She was also a member of the Begole Street Block Club. Jan was a dedicated wife who was married to her “Best Friend” Robert “Bobby” Durrett July 12, 1980. They were truly best friends in love and enjoyed watching football and basketball games together and spending time with their grandchildren. Wherever you saw Jan, you saw Bobby. She was an avid reader, loved movies, television, and spending time with family and friends. Jan was a very loving, caring and encouraging mother, whom her children could always confide in no matter the circumstances and be assured that she would respond in a non-judgmental and understanding manner. Jan loved the Lord and attended Ebenezer Ministries where she occasionally participated in Ebenezer’s Street and Jail Ministries with her husband. She was a great miracle of God who had numerous medical conditions, but due to her faith, strength and perseverance, few people knew because she never spoke it or complained. Jana’s family loved her dearly, and she leaves to cherish her memory: husband and best friend, Robert; children, Janetta and LaQueta (Stanley) Durrett and Eugene (Terralisa) McBride, all of Flint; 7 grandchildren, Tirrell Hudson Jr., Amorianah Durrett-Gipson, Omarion Durrett, Kezaria Balknight, Eugene McBride Jr., Jeree Stubbs and Tamara Horton; brothers, Augustus and Richard Cayton; dear sister, Jackie Thompson; father-in-law, William Durrett; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Jean), Lawrence (Janet), Donald (Shirley) Durrett; sisters-in-law, Eva White, Monica Byrd, Florence (Gary) Nichols; a host of nieces, including Shonte’ Johnson who was like a daughter, nephews and special friends, Amos (Bonnie) Hornsby, Trina Stewart, Grace Dawson, Leon (Williemae) Miller, William White (Brenda), Belinda Johnson and Beverly Jones. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Augustus and Georgia Cayton; brother-in-law, Lester Thompson; sister-in-law, Ardie Felder; and mother-in-law, Anna Durrett. The family would like to express special thanks to Senior Pastor Urundi Knox, Brother Tariq Ferguson, The Brothers of P.A.C.E., and the Ebenezer Ministries Family.
