THOMPSON, Mr. James - Age 59, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at his residence. Family hour 11:30AM Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1309 N. Ballenger Hwy., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Rev. Dr. Tara Sutton officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30AM Wednesday. Mr. Thompson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Mr. James Bradley Thompson, AKA Jim, J.T. and Brad, was born June 24, 1948 in New York City (Harlem), New York to James Berkley Thompson and Carolyn Mary Davis. James attended the New York City Public Schools, graduating and receiving his Diploma from Haaren High School in June 1966. After graduating he entered the United States Air Force in October 1966. He was a Crash Fighter and a Fire Protection Specialist during his service time. Prior to being Honorably Discharged, James attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1984 he relocated from New York City to Flint, Michigan, and began working for Mass Transportation Authority. During his time at MTA, he met and made many friends. James continued to work for MTA for the next 21 years, retiring in December 2005. He leaves to cherish his memories: loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Deborah; 4 daughters, Makeba (Dion) Evans of Tucker, GA, Keba Coyoca (David Robinson, fiancé) of Riverdale, MD, Jeanine and Eboni (Deonte Gibson, fiancé) Caldwell both of Flint; daughter-in-law, Keneshia Brown of Flushing, MI; 11 grandchildren, Quoreon Evans of Mississippi State University, MS, Quavonte, Dion, DaMann, Quan and Quaid Evans, all of Tucker, GA, Nyasha, Shawnie and Alexa Brown all of Flushing, MI, Dashawn and Deonte Gibson, Jr., both of Flint and 1 grandchild due to arrive this fall; adopted granddaughter, Shiomonickque Munerlyn of Texarkana, AR; 2 brothers, Jay (Sheila) Thompson of Bronx, NY and Antonio Storm (Patricia Crews, fiancée) of Tampa, FL; 2 step-brothers; 2 step-sisters; 5 brothers-in-law; 1 sister-in-law; 1 aunt; 2 special cousins; many nieces, nephews, other special relatives and friends. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his son, Sean Andre Brown; parents; and niece, Kelly Thompson. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Abouljoud, Maria Zinanni and Adeena at the Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI, Barbara & Albert Pankey, Reggie Bradley, Chimine Hill, Glen Conway, MTA Administrators and Drivers for all their help and concern shared with us.
