SMITH, Mr. James Luther "Smitty" - Age 70, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mr. Smith will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday. Mr. James Luther Smith “Smitty” was born July 23, 1948 in Rowland, North Carolina, the son of James Mclean and Annie Jane Smith. James graduated from Rowland High School in North Carolina. He was known as “Track” because he ran so fast. In 1975 James became a resident of Flint, Michigan until he was called home to be with the Lord. He was employed at General Motors Corporation for over 35 years until retirement. James was a devoted father. He loved his family, children and grandchildren. James also loved dancing, singing and all types of stories and memories to share. He was known for being the number man and everyone knew of him. James was a member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed listening to the blues and having a wonderful time. James was best known for his driving all over town and through town. He will be truly missed and never forgotten. Love always our father, our friend and our king.
