James Marshall

MARSHALL, Mr. James Arthur - Age 76, passed away Friday, May 13, 2005 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Friday, May 20, 2005 at New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church, G-3184 W. Pierson Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Dr. Fred S. White officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Friday. Mr. Marshall will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mr. James Arthur Marshall was born September 22, 1928 in Hempstead County, Arkansas, the son of Archie and Fannie Marshall. James was united in Holy Matrimony to Regina Marshall on April 18, 1981, and to this union one child was born, Thelma Jean Marshall. James accepted Christ at an early age. He became a faithful member of New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church. He served faithfully on the Usher Board until his illness. He was employed with General Motors, Skill Tradesman at Chevrolet, retiring after 31 ¢ years, as a member of UAW Local 659. He loved to speak and read the word of God. Mr. Marshall leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Regina Marshall of Flint; 9 children, Levester (Charles) Davis of Miami, FL, James (Jean) Marshall, Jr. of Cleveland, OH, Gloria Marshall of Maryland, Calvin Johnson, Selma Marshall-Vines, Alonzo (Maxine) Tarrant, Arthur (Sonya) Tarrant, Donita (Brett) Morgan and Thelma (Henry) Marshall of Flint; 31 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Hazel (Hence) Coates of Dayton, OH, Jow Ella Gaines of Richmond, CA and Mary Walker of Cleveland, OH; 1 aunt, LouElla Johnson of CA; 1 sister-in-law, Denise McNeal of KY; 2 brothers-in-law, Raymond and Oscar McNeal both of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives including special friends, the Parkway Ave. neighbors. Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Fannie Marshall; 2 sisters; and 1 brother. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center 4 East staff, the New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church family and close friend, Sis. Jean Nelson.
