HILL, Mr. James, Jr. - Age 69 passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, December 30, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM, Elder Janice Walker officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 1:30 PM Friday. Mr. Hill will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday, with family present from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. James Hill Jr. warmly known to many as “Butch” age 69, went to his heavenly home on December 21, 2016 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. James Hill Jr. came into this world on April 21, 1947, to the union of the late Bishop James and Willie Hill in Birmingham, Alabama. James graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1966.” He went on to serve in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1969. Upon discharge from the Army, James successfully gained employment through Buick Motor Company and Services Parts Operations, divisions of General Motors with over 30 years of service. James met and married Rutha Stephens in 1971, and to this union two children were born. James received Christ at an early age and was a dedicated Deacon of Spiritual Israel Church up until he relocated to Cary, North Carolina. “Butch” enjoyed camping, singing, and spending time with his family and friends. James was truly a family man. He was loved by his family and a host of people in the community and will be remembered for his genuine love towards others and his acts of kindness towards others. James leaves to cherish his memory: loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Ms. Rutha Hill of Cary, North Carolina; one loving son, Jarvice Hill of Durham, North Carolina; one loving daughter, Jylonda Hill of Cary, North Carolina; three brothers, Aries, Terry (Phyllis), all of Flint, Michigan and Santana (Tatiana) of Conyers, Georgia; three sisters, Connie Hill of Norcross, Ga, Arnella (Nicky) Crain of Camby, Indiana, and Ozella Hill of Flint, Michigan; many nieces and nephews including special nephews; Aries Hill Jr. “Lil Mike”, Ramark Darden, and Ronald Hill “Weedy”;one special niece, LaShiela Darden; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, James “Redman” Harris, and friends from Outdoor Adventure Campgrounds. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and James Hill; sister, Brenda Hill; special brother-in-law, James Eason; and special niece, Shawn Hill. The family would like to express special thanks to Duke University Hospital (Cardiac ICU Unit), and Dr. George Predeteanu.
